High-res DMB Album Art for iTunes

Here y'all go, the highest resolution album art I've been able to find. I've cleaned all of them up in Photoshop to remove smudges in the scans, and I've cropped all of them square. Some of them have been generated directly from PDF files the actual covers were printed from. If I find better quality cover art, or happen to buy a scanner and make better scans, I will update this Flickr set accordingly.

If you'd like to submit art, I'm happy to add it!

I've updated the Flickr set to include LT7 cover art. :)

I also re-did the cover art for LT5 and LT6 because I noticed it was at 72 dpi instead of 300 - oops!

Lastly I found a much higher resolution image for BOWA, so I've added that as well. And a higher resolution WH8v2 image too.

i found some MUCH higher quality images that aren't scans - they're the real deal - but they're 500x500. i think they look much better despite the smaller size and i always only use the 500x500 versions to save disk space when attaching artwork to every file.

would you be in favor of me replacing the 900x900 versions with higher quality 500x500s?

Well you're all in our hearts and prayers man. Being born and raised in Virginia I felt somewhat attached to what happened but in no way like your family and you.

I'm doing well over here. Everyday presents its own interesting and sometimes frightening situations. Right now I'm just looking forward to going home for two weeks in July. Sometimes you just have to find the good amongst all the bad.

Right click on the song(s) and there is either a tab for artwork (for individual songs) or there is an artwork box when you select multiple songs.

Depends on the file size of the art. If they're small pictures then they shouldn't take up too much, but if each art file is like 250k then they can add up very quickly.

sure! i have thought about doing the singles for a long time. i have several here, but my scanner broke years ago and i haven't bothered to replace it, kinda a necessary task! some of the WH discs are crappy images too. as you guys know, i will update this to be the best we can collectively get it, so please let me know :)

a canon. that's all i needed to know. i had a canon LED flatbed that worked great for a few years but broke after my junior year of college and i've never bothered to replace it... if i need to scan an important document or something i just do it at the office, but i can't really be scanning DMB albums there :)

added wh5v5, wh5v6, starbucks LT compilation, then replaced my old images with the new wh5v1, cp bonus and wh8v3 art.

I'll forward them to you, but they haven't been cleaned up at all. You and Tambourine can determine if you both want to clean them up or just have one person do it. The singles are worth putting up because some of the cover art (especially for crash and BTCS) is pretty damn cool. :upyours

Jim's artwork doesn't make that much of a difference

I ripped LiveTrax 11 in MP3 at 256 kbps...

However, if you google artwork (like I do a lot) and use some of those that are 900x900, that will add up.

Yes, like jdub said it depends on what you put in there. I keep everything at 500x500, 72dpi. I think that's big enough to look good blown up and shows enough detail, but is small enough to keep file sizes reasonable.

Even then the cover art file can be up to 150 KB ish, and you're appending that to each MP3 file*. So expect to add about a megabyte for art for each disc when you're all done.

Me, I think it's worth it :)

*Art downloaded automatically in iTunes or by right clicking files you've ripped and choosing "Get Album Art" doesn't actually get appended to each file but stored as a separate file and linked in the iTunes DB, so it saves a bit of space but doesn't get transferred with the music file. Art that comes with purchased songs from iTunes Store or Amazon is embedded in each file. Art added manually (like this DMB stuff) in most cases gets embedded too, which I think is the best method so it stays with the file.

It's not high resolution or super great quality but I have the album cover art for all three of their albums, one of which was a cassette.

Can anyone offer me some help? I simply selected an entire album and copied and pasted the art from Flickr into the Get Info section on Itunes where it has a section for album art. Some of the album art shows up and some is only a black square with no art. Any ideas or should I just redo the ones that got messed up?

say, for example, you were adding the art for LT12. you would highlight all the tracks, then from the menu bar go to Info (apple key + I, if you have a mac), click "yes" you want to edit info for multiple items, there is a box labeled "artwork" in the edit info screen, click there then locate it wherever it is on your coomputer and ok it.

Here's the Live Trax 2008 album art as it's own PNG image, taken directly from the music files themselves. It's just a little trick I learned awhile ago. Should be decent enough for a CD Cover (600x600, 72 DPI) :upyours

Do these images need to be loaded onto the flickr site with all of the other artwork? Adding artwork into iTunes with the files off of the flickr site worked great. However, right clicking on these dmblive images and saving as jpeg then adding into iTunes is not working. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

guys, i am not going to mess around with DMBlive artwork on the flickr page. i haven't bought any yet but it doesn't look like the resolution is very high in the images, and these aren't exactly examples of gorgeous cover art. plus, if there are going to be 5 a month it will just be too much and get too cluttered. not to mention take too much time to maintain.

i would recommend just saving the images off the DMBlive site, or copy and paste them into iTunes from your web browser.

i will continue to support all major releases on the flickr page.

I love this art. you know what would be awesome? They said in the e-mail that there are 14 lithographs. There are 13 album tracks. If the lithos were 1 of each song, just like this one and 1 of the album cover. That would rule. I think I would have to get them framed if they did that. It seems a little creative for them, but the number 14 seems like it would be perfect right? Otherwise it's an odd amount.
