Midweek shows kinda suck, but last time they came here right after SPAC -- 04 -- we got a pretty good treat.

we sure did... i really love that 7/6/04 GGT.

let's just hope it is not as hot as balls as it was last year. Dan's fro was kinkier than usual.

this seems like it may get overlooked this year dmb really has an energy about them here. i really enjoy the venue and if ur not stuck in one of the back lots its really not that bad

I will be at one of these shows at least. I mean, I live 20 minutes away, bad parking situation or not, it's a lot easier than going elsewhere.

I'll probably be at both shows. The lots aren't too bad of you park on the right as you drive into the venue. If you get stuck in the back left then that looks like hell.

I'll never forget hearing them sound check #34 on 7/9/05 and wondering if they'd bust it out.

I remember hearing drums and not knowing immediately what the song was. Then, when it finally dawned on me, I was like "holy shit." Still wasn't sure if they'd actually play it during the show, but it was pretty special when they did.

My only wish in 2008 is we get some tunes in Mansfield that have been absent for a while. At least a couple songs like The Stone, #41, You Never Know, JTR, Big Eyed Fish, Dreaming Tree, Best of What's Around, Jane, etc.

Wow, looking at Great Woods stats on the Almanac now. Aside from #34 there doesn't seem to be a lot that's happened here. I can't believe that Maker from last year was the first time it'd ever been performed at the venue.

Monkey in '02.

It's a pretty safe bet as far as venues go to see a solid show for a given tour.

Yeah, but we're talking 6 years ago now. That's a distant memory (though, to be fair, it was played at Fenway too, so I see your point).

no you haven't... you're just not understanding that shows on paper and shows in person can be two very different things. as bill said "It's a pretty safe bet as far as venues go to see a solid show for a given tour."

the band is always on fire and always seems to have a good time playing Great Woods, no matter what songs are on the setlist.

I'm not disagreeing with you that the shows are fun; if they weren't I wouldn't keep going. A little variety is all I've been campaigning for.

One of my favorite songs is Grey Street, and Bartender is up there too...But I've really had enough of both of them already solely because they've been so common at Great Woods the last few years. There just hasn't been much overall variety whereas it seems several other songs that haven't seen the light at Great Woods have been played at stops all throughout the country (like the songs I mentioned earlier).

They could repeat last year's set and I'd still have fun. Would I be disappointed, though? Of course, which is how I've felt the last two years at Mansfield.

Forgot that one.

People are making good points here though, Great Woods is good for solid shows from their given tour year. I can say from experience Night 2 last year and night 2 in '04 in particular stand out as being the epitome of solid shows. Looking back at prior setlists and old tapes, you can say the same for shows going all the way back to '95. Maybe they've never had a seriously stand out show there, but so far as I can see, there were only two shows there that could be qualified as "bad" ('05 Night 2 and '07 Night 1) and even those weren't horrific.

It's also important to remember that this venue got skipped over for 4 years during the stadium era, so Mansfield hasn't had as many chances to stand out as a venue like SPAC.

Eh, if you're not counting aesthetics. Deer Creek is supposedly gorgeous, while Mansfield is just a few more renovation-free summers away from being a total eyesore.

I pulled a pretty good seat for Mansfield N2 Section 1 row P

I don't drive, and was wondering if anyone who is in the springfield area could possibly give me a ride for N2. I really don't wanna waste this ticket its the best seat I have had. I'd be willing to pay gas and tolls but I can definatly not afford two nights mansfield plus a hotel.

so if anyone is able and willing please PM me or send me an email

I guess if you are crazy rich, like I have to assume this guy is, then money is no object, but I couldn't never justify paying $18,000 for 12 tickets.

Maybe it's a scalper that is buying them and thinking they can turn those around for a profit....

The parking lots are now opening 4 hours prior to when the ticket gates open for most shows. For some shows the parking lots are opening 2 hours prior to the ticket gates opening.

Thank you for emailing the Comcast Center, a LiveNation venue

This whole lots at 4 is load of BS...they are just asking for trouble and complaints.... traveling on 495/95 around 4 pm is going to be a disaster...its going to be one big traffic jam....experience at other new england venues will show local police will crack if you line up outside the gates...i encourage everyone to do so...see everyone at 2....

pgr17

Ok I can't figure out how to make this work but my written directions are just as good.

Heading in from 93 South your basically stuck in traffic at 495/95 or get off at 140 and fight your way through Norton Center which when i've gone that way it is hit or miss with its benefits.

basically coming form southern New England....93 North to exit 3 Attelboro..you'll follow 123 for a pretty good clip, past Capron Park and up into Attelboro center. Follow it for a good amount of time...I'm guessing about 7 miles..if you haven't done it before it will feel lke forever....so follow 123 till you get to Freeman St.. take a left onto that....follow that road for the duration...when you get to the end it will be a "T" in the road... go left (you should go by a subway on your left water on your right) you are now on 140...follow this past the TPC Boston and a Shopping Plaza (i think there is McDonalds in it) eventually Great Woods will be on the left...there you go....

in going this way you may snake through mainstreets and backroads but you avoid any sort of traffic delays getting on and off 495...if you are going later in the day it can save a bunch of time...I would have included a map I just can't figure it out how to paste it..so whatever people do it yourself...this way works...also works on the way out too...

So I was perusing the ants board for anyone with a true answer to ths parking lot situation (why don't ask me it only makes me glad I don't go over there to much) anyways they are up in arms about the alcohol policies of MA venues (under 25 outta state gets all sort of hassles) bottom line is bring your passport if at all possible if you want to drink inside the venue....its just easier and less of a hassle for you as they enforce an outdated policy

I used to work local crew every now and then at Mansfield. It used to be run through Bill Kinney productions (not sure if he is still there or not), but all you had to do was say "working local crew - Bill Kenney productions" and they would flag you through to the front of the lot for free crew parking (where the buses park). Might be worth trying to see if it works. ;)
