so, there's no way to setup behind the board since it will be up against a wall?

not exactly sure on that one. may end up like on the first step right behind it. alex would know more about where exactly we'd have to be

There are plenty of (stone) bleacher seats behind the board. That is the optimal place to setup. Hopefully the band does not have too much of it roped off for band friends.

Jack Johnson and Ben Harper in '03 we parked behind the board each of the 3 nights. No taping allowed since it was a BHIC show so we brought the hat. Total talkative douchebags in front of us for JJ one of the shows who were "friends" with the crew so they got in the roped off area. Talked the whole damn set until I leaned over and told one of them to shut the fuck up. It's probably on the tape.

For those taking BART, it looks like the last train rolls through downtown Berkly at 12:02 am. Maybe a couple minutes later depending on where your going.

Sleeping at home (In good 'ole Mateo). Taking BART from Millbrae (or Colma) to the shows. I still have to research what the best option is.

Just curious, what's near the Shearton? If it's the Sheraton I'm thinking of you'll be near Burlingame. Can't think of to much near there except for a Golf Driving Range, a small Golf Course and Coyote Point. Unless your driving up to the city (or taking BART into the City).

It is the one in Burlingame. We do have a car for the 5 days we are going to be there, so we are planning on driving into the city. I guess there isn't too much around it but it was nicest, most reasonable hotel that we could get bundled with the priceline package we got (the girl I'm coming doesn't like to stay in 2 star hotels, so finding a place that she would stay is a challenge, hence the reason we are quite a ways from the venue).

But the tickets are here . . 9 more days til my flight out there . . this amazing weekend is almost here ! ! ! !

With the whole GA thing, I'm not sure about pre-partying. If I'm sitting in a bar instead of in line, I'm just getting drunk and missing a chance at better seats. Wish I could kick back in line with a cooler and grill.

this is what we did at the ok city ga show, got there around 2pm, were about 10th in line, drank and ate and then around 5pm took the cooler back to the car and got in about 10 feet from the stage centered. that is when the misery began, standing there from 5pm til 8:20pm

If its a sunny day, the walk up to and view from Coit Tower is definitely worth it. You should also go somewhere with a view of the Golden Gate bridge, probably Golden Gate Park. And I love wandering around North Beach just because its like a different country there, with excellent Italian food. City Lights Bookstore is also very interesting.

For a great view of the Golden Gate bridge you need to go into the Marin Headlands. Here's a sample of what the view is:

Rent a GO CAR and thank me later. It will be the most fun you will ever have touring a city. We rented one for 6 hours in June and had the times of our lives doing so. It is a voice guided GPS tour. Rent by the hour and keep it as long as you want. SO MUCH FUN!!!

Here's what you do if you've got a big group doing line duty. Take breaks and head over to Lavals Pizza which is right around the corner. Remember to leave someone in line to save your spot though....

They've got bathrooms, killer pizza, and beer of course. I don't remember what else is around there but this place is pretty close.

Standing in line all day is not worth it for me since I don't live in SF and it is one of my favorite cities to visit. There really isn't a bad seat at the Greek so I am getting there late.

Anyone ever rode the BART back to downtown SF after a show at the Greek? Is it a mess?

I called BART yesterday. The last chain rolls through the Downtown Berkley station at 12:29am. The lady told me to get back to San Francisco, take the Fremont train to Macarthur Station. This is a transfer station. Then you get on your San Fran train at Macarthur.

*It is unknown to me what time the last San Fran train rolls through Macarthur station.

It looks like Thursday will be the only day we'll be able to check out the city, what are some the must see places in the Bay Area?

The tourist traps are of course Fisherman's Wharf/Union Square/North Beach

I highly remommend 1 of two things:

A)buy a single day transit pass for $11...which allows you to access every form of public trans in the city including cable cars which get you at $5 PER WAY
B) Rent a bike for a day I usually take people on this tour

1. Start at Fishermans wharf and rent the bike at Blazing Saddles
2. Bike through Fishermans wharf up to pier 39 (stop and see the seals)
3. Continue along embarcadero to Ferry building
4. Continue to ATT park
5. Take 2nd street up through SOMA to Financial District
6. Once at market st take Samsome to Broadway (make left then right onto Columbus)
7. Thats where you enter North Beach
8. Go through NBeach and stop at Ghiradelli Square for Ice Cream Sundays
9. Go past fort mason and down Crissy Field toward Golden Gate
10. Bike the bridge half way

at this point you can return or continue

11. Take Lincoln BLVD down along the cliffs and ocean view
12. Pass Baker Beach (nude)
13. Once you hit the avenues (i believe around 30th) make left and head towards Golden Gate Park
14. Ride through Park and either go toward ocean or toward Haight Asbury
15. Take Bus (you can put your bike on it) for $1.50 and return bikes

All in all its a 2-3 hour bike ride but youll see the entire city

Are they usually cool about people drinking in line (I guess if you keep it hidden nobody will bother you)? I haven't gone to a GA concert for so long, I can't remember what we used to do. Probably poured everything in a Big Gulp cup.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Only problem is I have a huge bag because I will have been traveling for 2 weeks by then, but hopefully I can lug it around ok. Certainly has to be cheaper than a taxi.
