Last two times I went I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Coraopolis (or however the hell it's spelled), right near the Pittsburgh airport, makes for a real short drive to the venue. Probably do the same this year.

I decided about 30 minutes ago I'd make the 6-7 hour drive to see the tour opener. I've never been here, is it worth going if I can only get lawn? Is the sound good there? I compare all lawns to Deer Creek, because it's the best lawn I've been on.

I've managed to talk a couple buddies into going to more then one show with me this year (usually it's tough to get them to one :lol) but I doubt they'll bite on paying for the pavilion both nights.
How is the lawn here? I've been in the pavilion for 3 shows, but never in the lawn (or any lawn for that matter)

Sweet, because Deer Creek is one of the better sounding lawns around. Where as some crap like Tinley Park, IL (glad we have Toyota now) the sound is horrible regardless of where you sit on the lawn.

It definately has one of the best lots on tour. I have been to 89 shows and the lot at Starlake is definately top 5. Peace

it seem like "lowers" are covered seats and "uppers" are uncovered seats. someone called the box office and that's what they said, plus i haven't seen anyone declined for lowers or confirmed for uppers. the warehouse should have done a better job defining the two levels, because i think a lot of people are getting their hopes up for awesome tickets.

StarLake is awesome. I've seen 4 shows there. It's one of my true favorite non-Gorge/Red Rocks/Alpine/MSG venues to see a show. Can't wait to go back this year, and so glad it's getting a 2-nighter this year opening up the whole tour. It's gonna be really exciting for everyone in attendance with all the new song and Tim possibilities, plus whatever other songs pop up to kick off the tour. I'm gonna try my best to avoid any soundcheck info prior to the show so that it's all truly fresh.

I get caught in bad traffic on that highway every time. I too would like to know an idea of a better way to get there.
Yeah, looking at google maps it looks like there are a lot of smaller roads that could get you around that, but not being familiar with the area, I'm not sure if taking those roads would actually take longer than dealing with traffic.

The last two times I went, the shows were Sat and Sun, and the traffic was nothing on the Sunday, but a nightmare on the Saturday. I don't know what a Friday will be like.

Is the best route coming from the PIT airport taking 22 to Barrington Rd-> 18 to the venue? Or is there a bad chance of traffic jams going that way around 3pm? If so what is the best way around it. TIA
Yes, but no matter what route you take getting there at 3 will make you encounter traffic.

for anyone who plans on driving through pittsburgh on saturday, there is a penguins game there (stanley cup finals) so it will be extremely busy in the city... just FYI

This will be my first time at Starlake, how long with traffic will it take from the airport? I'm staying on the east side of the airport. Also, without a parking pass is there any strategy for not being in traffic all night getting out of the lot?

The only way you might not get stuck in traffic all night in those parking lots is to get there early. I'm always in the back area, must be N or O or P, and it's usually a 90 minute wait to get out.

I like to postgame, so the traffic never really bothers me getting out.

I'll have to pack a good cooler of food and drink in case I get stuck in the lot. I'll be on my own for this trip, so I'll probably try to get out asap or hopefully meet some cool people to hang with after the show.
Here's to a great opening weekend! Hope everyone has a great safe time.

Yeah, the first time I went to Star Lake I was all the way in the back corner and it took 2 hours to get out. The next day we went to a TM outlet and got a premier parking pass for the second show. Now I always get the parking pass for that venue, and it lets you get out in 10 minutes. Star Lake is without a doubt one of the best values as far as parking passes go.
Looking for a pair or single in 1,2, or 3 for N1.

ive decided this year i'm going to be just hanging in the lots rather then bother dealing with the traffic. i always end up getting pissed. i'll wait til they clear.

this is going to be the most interesting tour opener since 2000! i'm purposely going to stay away from the boards the rest of today and tomorrow - i don't want to know any soundcheck info. see everyone in the lots.

Is there any chance someone would be willing to pick me up at hyatt close to the airport and drop me off after the shows? I would be happy to toss some gas ni your car, buy a beer for you, etc. Please get in touch wiht me on aim @ skott13 if so.
