I'm hoping to be in the lots around 4:30. If either night people want to get together, let me know. I'll be in the main JPJ lot both nights.

And please don't let that statement devolve into the argument of people not being able to hold their booze at a show.
I'm speaking for the older adult crowd that would like to enjoy 6 dollar bud products at the show.

I bet Coran has them sell Starr Hill beer. Either way I am pumped since they did not sell beer earlier in the year when I saw the Eagles there.

I'm gonna check into my hotel hopefully right at 3, and then make the short drive into town... should be ready to do some gating by 5:30ish friday night.
sounds good. i'm hoping to get to the lots around 5, but with a 6hr drive i'm sure traffic will be a big part of when i actually get there.
glad to see they sell beer there, i'm gonna be drinking western pennsylvania's finest beer from the north country brewery, but i'm glad i'll be able to get something in the show

Section 101s for N2 are available on their website. Seats should be pretty good.

I just got a good deal on 110's early this week for N2. After these last two shows I'm real excited. I've got an 8 hour drive for Saturday morning, but it should be worth it.

If they're selling Starr Hill for $6 a pint, then I may not make it out alive.

Why I Am video from You Tube has just got about 10 plays on repeat from me in the last hour. Seriously can't stop listening. And even though I was nowhere near inebriated at the show, for some reason I could make out zero lyrics for any of the new songs (at least none that stuck with me), but now that I am listening intently and can make most of them out I love what I hear. This is, in my ever so humble opinion, the best new song of the three we've heard. As it probably will be (I haven't heard confirmation), this needs to be the second single. This is a song that leaves people singing.

To spare you I will only recount a few of the highlights from this Show of many. But before I do that, let me start by listing my top 5 wish-list coming into this show: #41, The Dreaming Tree, You Never Know, Seek Up (although I've been fortunate to see it I would never tire of witnessing it) and Ants Marching (see Seek Up). Well 2 out of 5 and they were absolute monsters. On to the Show.
First highlight of the night was seeing the 12-string come out on the stage. Knew it had to be either Bartender, not likely since they usually only open or close with this, Grey St. or Raven. Raven is a favorite of mine and I've been on a big Busted Stuff kick lately, so this was great to hear. It also contains one of my favorite lines from Dave, “The ground beneath is nothing more than my point of view.” Next came Grey St., a favorite of my girlfriend’s (I got her into the band, she bought the tickets). It’s always fun to be able to sing along with the person enjoying the concert with you and this was no exception. This may have been mentioned, but Coffin elevated this song, making it the best version I've ever heard. To some, this might not be saying much, but this is a very good version and worth a listen.
Next highlight was Cornbread, which has emerged into a monster live. With the banjo-pickin’ Danny Barnes joining in, this song really got everybody up and moving. Then the moment I’d been waiting for . . . hearing the opening cymbals Carter plays to begin #41, one of the band's most powerful and moving songs (for me ranks right up there with Seek Up and DT), in my ever so humble opinion that is.
#41 was owned by the one and only Jeff Coffin. Tim was good too but Coffin really stood out on this. The man, simply put, is a beast of a musician. And it was he who carried this already great song to a dizzying level the likes of which I will never forget. Coffin has done an incredible job, not only stepping in to fill the void left by the irreplaceable LeRoi Moore, but improvising and taking this band to a whole new level. This #41 was more than just a song for me, more than merely a moment in a line of concerts. It represents all the elements one seeks to find in the experience of live music, running the entire gamut of emotions - joy, sadness, heartbreak, forgiveness. I would say the greatest concert experience I've witnessed from this band. Truly amazing. A must download.
Well, what could top that but closing with Ants Marching, the quintessential DMB song. As always, it was played as if the band was playing it as the closer for their last show. Honestly, that was the feeling I got. Another tremendous performance. Another must download - hell just download the whole show. And what could top that but a four song encore (virtually unheard of in DMB world) consisting of the ever-amazing So Damn Lucky and ending with the ever-so-reliable All Along The Watchtower. Both songs just put the night over the top for me. I'm not even going to mention the few songs I didn't like because the rest of the concert was that great that it doesn't matter.
This one ranks as #1 for me, ahead of 9/11/03.

I just gave both of these a listen again recently and I really enjoyed them. It was such a thrill hearing Why I Am and Spaceman for the very first times. Plus, the overall vibe in Charlottesville was great. :upyours
