am i crazy thinking that this may actually be a watchable movie? i've always been a fan of these movies (though V was really bad) and just saw the trailer for "Rocky Balboa". i don't know... seems to be an interesting premise. i guess only time will tell.

and also, is there a better theme song than "Gonna Fly Now"? :box

Since I've loved the Rocky series since I was 12, and have been waiting forever for this movie to come out, I'm seeing it opening day, and will enjoy the hell out of it... even though it will definitely be shit.

Ill take my dad to see this.

I remember being a kid when my parents took me to see Rocky IV in the theaters. People were standing and cheering at that friggin screen.

I can't wait. I grew up on these movies, Rocky I is my favorite movie of all time. I'm sure this won't be anything special, but it can't be any worse than V.

My friend Randy and I are staying up the night before, watching all five movies back to back to back to back, and then going to the theater to see this one. It's stupid, but it's going to ROCK!

IMO, only the 5th one sucked. The others weren't too bad. 1 of course was great.

Sorry I'm not a fan of Sly. I thought all of them were horrible. Give me Raging Bull any day. DeNiro > Sly.

Yeah, saw this tonight. Loved every second of it. Easily the best in the series other than, possibly, the first one. This movie was the shit, hands down.

If you like Rocky...go see it.

So excited. cant wait.

Why does everyone hate on Rocky V so much? i think III is the worst of the series. this is how i rank the rockys

I
II
IV
V
III

I think VI will be up there with I and II.

i just never ever got into rocky III. rocky gets rich, and dosent have that punchy accent. 10 minutes are wasted fighting hulk hogan. Mr T's horrible acting, Rocky fights, Looses, then has thay gay embrace scene with apollo in the ocean, then wins. Just kinda blah to me. Kinda pointless. III is kinda silly after the epic that is I and II.

Rocky V gets into the politics of the boxing business. Shows how young boxers get brainwashed by money and promoters. I liked seeing rocky become an everyday joe again, dealing with personal and family issues. Rocky betrays his son and tommy gunn betrays him. Taking over micks gym and becoming the trainer. And the fight at the end was about self pride, not the title with all the lights and glory. He was fighting on self pride in the slums of philly. Its not a fitting end for the series, however it sets up VI perfectly.

anyways, i just got back from seeing this. it was great. they should have pulled a "superman returns" and put it after the second one, because it feels more like the first two than any others.

To your spoiler:

No. Stallone has stated that the only reason that he made this movie is that he didn't want to end the series on such a bad note, when all the other ones were inspirational. He wanted to finally end it on a wonderful note, which he did...but he only wanted it to be a finale, not a new beginning.

interesting, cause it has several points to which lead on to another one with Steps as the new prodigy.

so i saw this when i was home with my dad and brother and really enjoyed the hell out of it. some parts dragged and would have liked some scenes to be explored more than others were but overall i really liked it. and it ended exactly as it should have.

I've seen it twice. The first viewing was amazing and very nostalgic. The second time, the movie's corniness stood out a little more, but it was still really enjoyable. Overall, a fine addition to the series. But I never thought Rocky V was as bad a closer as everyone else (including Stallone) thought.
