There have been several rumors going around about a set of shows next summer at Wrigley. This guy on nancies claims to be legit: http://www.nancies.org/boards/showthread.php?t=1678302664
This would be pretty sweet obviously, but the rumor needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I think it's also important to note that this is the around the same time last year that rumors started to spread about Fenway.

I'm pretty sure this rumor started over a month ago. Some other more legit people in the community have also stated that it looks like its a go.

Haven't been to a show at a baseball field...but it seems like it would be awkward to see a concert unless you had some really good seats. Don't think I'd enjoy myself as much as the typical amphitheatre.

was second row at fenway for N1 and it was awesome... sat behind homeplate about 25 rows up for N2 and it too was an awesome experience. great sound, great view of the entire park... just a cool experience overall.

i'm imagining the same at wrigley... watching the buffett dvd from his concert there looks to be a very similar setup.

Saw DMB at Turner Field in '01, and it is a little different seeing them in a baseball stadium if you do not have good seats (plus the fact the show sucked). But, all that aside, seeing them at Wrigley would be great. What is the concert history there?

I saw DMB at Comerica Park in 2000. I was 6th row infront of Roi so it's hard to say anything bad. It's the only time I have seen DMB in a stadium and I liked it. Like I said I had good seats. The whole experience of being at the stadium on the field seeing my favorite band made it pretty cool as well. So it really depends on how much you care about your seats. If you like to take in the experience then I think you would have a good time.

Because that division of theirs is so brutal. :rolleyes

They have a solid lineup now with

Soriano
Lee
Aramis
Barrett
among the best at their position and

DeRosa
Murton
Jones

all well above average at their position

They also have one of the best pen's in the NL (With wood giving it another go, too)

They have one of the best starters in Carlos Zambrano and decent help around him (they'll add a starter before March).

The cubs will be fine and playing in a shitty NL Central only helps

It's still two baseball stadiums. I mean..I could see them doing it...that is, if they do a summer '07 stadium tour.

It has almost nothing to do with what DMB wants.

Wrigley Field isn't a music venue and the city has made it very, very difficult for the cubs to do anything but play baseball there. The cubs can't just say "hey, let's bring in DMB!!" And if they wanted to do it, we'd know about it by now. Buffett playing in Wrigley two years was public well over a year before he played there.

The stage would be in center field. And like any other show they'd bring their own screen.

and it's soldier field... which after the renovation, would be a horrible place to see a concert.

i don't know mike - i really enjoyed fenway. thought the sound was good and the site-lines were great.

now the football stadium shows - i didn't enjoy those very much. even being in the first row or as far back as the 10th... just seemed disconnected.

but there was just something about fenway that seemed different and connected. i don't know if that makes sense but i can't seem wrigley being much different from fenway.

:lol right... very, very different

???? Both are historic baseball stadiums. Both have hosted concerts. Both have city ordinances that must be met and stadium owners that must be appeased in order to have a show there.

Realistically...not much different aside from Wrigley maybe having more hoops to jump through than Fenway.

Stadium shows do blow...but as it was with Fenway, Wrigley wouldn't be your typical stadium show. It's an historic venue. There's an air of nostalgia that surrounds a show played at venues like this. It's more for the total experience than anything. Hell I'd go to Wrigley in a heartbeat. Why? The same as any Sox fan who made it a point to be at the Fenway shows. It's combining two things you love. The settings of Fenway and Wrigley are hard to match in the sports world, and the fans of each respective team hold those stadiums on a lofty pedestal.
