Yes I know you all hate these threads, but I need a good DMB "farewell" quote. I don't want it to be a cliche one (Celebrate we will, Tomorrow is no days), so if you have any good ones that are deep, feel free, and if its from a live version, tell me which version its from.

Thank you!

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I honestly would examine other possibilities than a DMB quote for your senior quote. It becomes dated quickly and is unoriginal no matter how obscure the quote. Those are just my thoughts. I went through the same thing earlier this year looking for a good DMB quote and those are the conclusions that I came to.

yeah I can see that..but I've been listening to DMB throughout high school and a quote from them will represent that.

Honestly, most things picked will be dated. I think these quotes reflect where you are at that time and of course that will change.

my suggestion:
And don't believe there's a light that's brighter
Than the one that shine's from you.

what do you all mean by dated? Are you saying that everyone else will be using DMB quotes and someone will probably pick mine? this is why i came to the messageboard because a lot of people know quotes that no one knows, even though they are inspirational

haha that's my senior quote, wanderer, don't use it, i shot it back in the ufck days. i love that grey street tons. check out the two step intros from 03...typical situation switch ups if you hate your school from 06 or the 90s, pig intros if you're happy and a "carpe diem" type guy and "I'm only this far and only tomorrow leads the way" is a classic but not super overused yearbook quote. oh and use bowa if you like your class, but i'm sure half your class who doesn't listen to dmb might use that one as well. some shotgun switch up lyrics are pretty deep and i'm a big fan of early 90 seek up lyrics. and i'm delerious right now and hence cutting myself out. good luck. funny that both of $gm's groupies are hs seniors.

also, maybe my version of that grey st is just hard to hear but it sounds like dave is saying " no one else will do it fall down; reach up..." which really kills the essence of my yearbook quote, but i don't care that's what dave meant so we can just pretend he said it and leave my yearbook quote out that. just thinking out loud.

here, because i'm being so mean and taking all the good quotes:

2.02.99 alternate lyrics

[outro]
you can struggle with the weight of your troubles,
make the best of what's around
when you feel done and when you're gone
you could say, could say, "make the best of what's around"

or what about

"reckless minds, don't throw away your playful beginnings"

or two step from 9.14.03 alternate lyrics

your imagination is as real as mushroom clouds in opened air among this highway

or if you hate your school and life and you think you think too much

"my head won't leave my head alone"

or if you're bitter about all the crap you learned in high school:

with all this time all these years,
we work so hard to find out
it all comes down to nothing

typical intro 7.02.06

or

if you are a happy go lucky guy i'd go for all of pnp or this intro from nancies on 9.1.02
"Don't you ever wonder
Maybe if you'd had a little more
Wine that one time
And had a good time
You would've been alright that night
Lay back and
Rest your weary head
On the pillow tonight
'Cause it's gonna be alright"

oh last stop reprise mix ups are always deep too, "come in from the noise for a while, rest your weary head my good friend, no need to worry yourself wild, the world can do without you for a while" that's from 98 too lazy to go on the almanac and check the date but it's a good one, except i don't like how while is repeated twice. still good though.

[intro]
Don't you ever wonder
Watchin' the news at night
Watchin' the world go to shit
Maybe think everything
Could be alright
If we'd just taken one turn
A little bit different
Maybe if we thought one thought
Just a little bit twisted

Don't you ever wonder
Maybe if you'd had a little more
Wine that one time
And had a good time
You would've been alright that night

Rest your weary head
On the pillow tonight

It's kiss the sky. But, Alright.
"The song's lyric "'Scuse me while I kiss the sky" has been widely misheard as "'Scuse me while I kiss this guy." This kind of lyrical misunderstanding is sometimes referred to as a mondegreen. However, in some live performances, as a joke Hendrix clearly and unmistakably sang "Scuse me, while I kiss that guy." One of these appears on the album "Voodoo Child : The Jimi Hendrix Collection (Disc 2)."."

this obviously is not a lyric but:
"There are arbitrary lines between bad and good that often don't make a lot of sense to me. I don't want to die, obviously, but really, the wonder of life is amplified by the fact that it ends. If it went on forever, it would be such a tiresome thing and we'd all be so bored: 'What are we going to do today?' 'Just live again, I suppose."

This would actually be the best one so far:
with all this time all these years,
we work so hard to find out
it all comes down to nothing

Because when you leave high school, you realize that all the shit in those four years basically meant nothing. All the shit about who was popular, who won what, who hated who...it's all as relevant as a half-forgotten dream.

I'm not being bitter, just honest. When I look back at my senior yearbook, two of the things written still touch my heart, about 80% of them are pointless and seem trite and silly, and the other 20% I don't even remember what the fuck they are talking about.

"Dude, never forget the rock and fourth"
Huh?

understandable, which is why I didn't really write any inside jokes...just shouted out to a few of my close friends from high school, saying thanks to mom and dad...etc
