Just got back from Casino Royale, and as a huge bond fan that will spend much of this next week and much of the week between christmas and new years watching nothing but bond movies, I have some knowledge on the franchise.

I'll go into more details tomorrow, and I am sure I am not the first person to see it, but overall I thought it was a good adaptation of the book. Daniel Craig was amazing, Eva Green is probably one of the best Bond girls ever, and the movie was well put together in just about every way. Some things changed or ommitted from the book that annoyed me, but some things added that I thought made alot of sense because the book is not action packed enough for a movie and spends at least 1/3 of it on on the bond/vesper relationship. Good to see felix leiter again, but they could have done a better job with it.

Oh, and as an origin story, I thought this was better then batman begins, and I loved batman begins. Daniel Craig has potential to be the best but I wouldn't say that he is yet. Having Paul Haggis revise the dialogue was a really good idea, and Martin Campbell continues to be the only guy who gets Bond anymore. At minimum, top 3 of the franchise.

It was a great movie. Started to drag towards the end but still really enjoyed it. Craig is a very good bond, looking forward to the next one.

The first action scene was crazy, everything was too perfect but damn impressive for that scene.

I really enjoyed the movie. Craig did well and it was nice to see Bond as he was younger, cocky and arrogent as hell, I loved it. Nice to see Bond back and definatly an improvement over many of the more recent ones (aside from Goldeneye).

I loved it, I can see him becoming one of my favorite Bonds.

finally, they are turning it into a series of movies, rather then a franchise of stand alone films that have no continuity...

from www.darkhorizons.com :

Out doing the promotional rounds for "Casino Royale", actress Eva Green revealed to Entertainment Weekly a few secrets about the upcoming sequel to "Casino Royale" in November 2008.

Be warned there are SPOILERS AHEAD for the ending of "Royale", so for those who haven't seen it I suggest looking away.

"They're going to do a second [movie] where you'll understand what's going on in her mind. It was really hard, and Barbara Broccoli helped me understand. You would think, wait a minute, she had an Algerian boyfriend, and she's been sent on this mission, and then she begins to feel guilty. She's in love with Bond. It's a deep love. The Algerian boyfriend was something light, an affair. So there's an internal conflict" she says.

She adds "The plan is, the Algerian boyfriend is going to be the baddie in the second Bond, and we'll understand [better]. But you don't have to think about it too much".

Drama wise the next film is set to deal with Bond's becoming better at his job, dealing with the emotional consequences of the events in "Royale", and out hunting the organisation behind Mr. White.

I loved it, I can see him becoming one of my favorite Bonds.

It was different having him as a Bond, and that's maybe why I really enjoyed it

i just got back from the film. casino royale is hands down my favorite movie of the year. daniel craig is a great bond, and this movie is one of the best of the franchise. no joke.

it's like they brought back what made bond movies so awesome, but put a modern spin on it. it wasn't just explosions and action (although there was plenty of that) but bond was actually a spy again in this movie. he did the spying. it was so cool.

all my doubts before seeing the movie are washed away. great movie... don't miss it!
