This was a good thread. I posted this at least 3 times on the other board, but IMO it is one the great DMB performances and the all time #1 performance of this song. The solo is nothing short of ridiculous. The lyrics are clear, logical and unique. The crowd is the most hyped I've ever heard, and the recording is pristine:

Say Goodbye (June 3, 1999):

lyrics:
So here we are tonight
you and me together
it's warm outside though our fire's bright
yes and in your eyes I see what's on my mind
you got me wild, turned around inside
oh and this desire
she is creeping up heavy inside here
and I know you feel the same way as I do now
let's make this an evening
lovers for a night, lovers just tonight

Oh well, here we are
no one to witness these sins but you
the one I adore
thing or two, we've to feature
you and me roll up into one secret creature
and away from here, oh
tomorrow we go back to being friends

Tomorrow, tomorrow we'll go back
but tonight let's be lovers
we kiss and sweat
we turn this good thing oh up to the best
of all we can offer
it's a rogue thrill, but no bitter pill
you and I swallow here tonight
oh I'm turning, turning for you
oh girl, just for tonight

Then here we'll be
ah two good friends
with time for a night of deceit
and tomorrow you're back to your man
I'm back to my world
we're back to being friends
oh don't you wish it?
just for this evening
come on let's strip down, trip out at this
one night's fun love begins with a kiss
and away from here, then
tomorrow we go back to being friends

Tomorrow we'll go back, but tonight let's lovers
oh please, tonight let's be lovers
say you will, tonight let's be lovers
oh please, tonight let's be lovers

Think, well here we are
oh under the stars
we'll listen to our hearts roar
and tomorrow we'll make this connection
only with each other, only recollection
whoa won't you, will you?
just for this evening
come on let's strip down and trip out at this
oh that one night's love beings with a kiss
and away from here, oh lover
and tomorrow back to being friends
oh but tonight, we'll be lovers
lovers, love, yeah
just for tonight, one night, love yeah.

Please tomorrow say goodbye
tomorrow say goodbye
tomorrow say goodbye, hey
It's send space, because YSI is taking me to some dude's blog.

Here're a couple more from this show:
If you know me, you know how good this version has to be if I'm posting it. Great Dave improv during the ending of the "jam", and an intrumental Dance Away resolution:
Lie In Our Graves (June 3, 1999)

I love Dave's solo near the end of this version. The build and length are perfectly effective at keeping full attention throughout the ending.

not that different... as evidence with the kid doing some sort of "woo-woo" throughout this entire show.

anyway, i was happy to have attended this show - definitely one of my favorites too :)

Those are some pretty awesome versions. These are just a couple of my all time favorite Say Goodbyes. All alternate lyrics on the Almanac, although you shouldn't need them. Didn't know where else to post them, let me know what you think.
