Just doing which songs now, we'll get to which version of each after the fact. Will probably take the top couple of votes.

I think it would be cool to do a Nancies->WH combo.

perhaps as in 6-28-06:

#40 would be my 1st choice. One of the most meaningful songs Dave as written IMO. Also fairly short so easy to squeeze in.

Yoshis
share the time again
i spend with you
a friend is always good to have
but a lover's kiss is better than angels raining down on me
i dream of you at times when you're by my side
dream you're not just like you are
so troubled and doubling my pain

....

but while i do my best
but all the rest i leave to you
can't wait for the hour
and when two things become this
always
all this trouble for a kiss from you i do it
and then you come up smiling
and i'm thrown
until i get a little storm with you i do it
Halloween would be my second choice

I am surprised that Loving Wings made this comp before many of the tunes on that list.

I wanted to vote for Last Stop, YNK and Say Goodbye but didn't since we already have some great versions of those songs which most people have heard. I think we should fill the space up with some tunes people don't hear a ton of, or may not know some of the better versions.

So....I voted for Pay For What You Get, Raven and Grey Street.

Looks like, as of now anyway, Last Stop and You Never Know will be the first two, and it'll be real close beyond that.

If it stays this close, would people be opposed to me replacing the 9.15.00 #41, which is a hair over 25 min., for a shorter one (either 6.8.97 or 5.15.01 were the next two highly voted versions) to include more songs?

bsan83
11-21-2006, 12:47 PM
I'd prefer to put the 5.15 one on there as well, just due to the amount of Bela Fleck material we all ready have on there, but I'll leave that up to everyone here.

I mean 6.8 is cool and I know its a best of not variety of, but how many DMBela tracks do we need and how mnay DMBela #41s have we all heard?

bsan83
11-21-2006, 12:58 PM
Switching #41 to either of those would give room for one more song, perhaps two.

That also depends how much of that Ants Marching goes on there. I figure I should at least include the bridge and Too Much tease with that.

Why is there no love for Billies?

I voted for Billies, Nancies, and Grey Street, but Rhyme & Reason fro Cville this year could suffice.

Although I must say that some of the choosen performances have me scratching my head (loving wings, graves bc that version is simply everywhere and Im actually kind of tired of it and seekup/41 for the same basic reason)... nonetheless, good on you for putting this together. Should be awsome

oh and 5.15.01 ;]

oh and 5.15.01 ;]It has nothing to do with the availability of performances.. this was meant to be a general consensus on the best versions of certain songs as sort of a snapshot of message board history.

YNK, the Stone and Rapunzel (12.13.00 specifically)

Since Last Stop and You Never Know are winning handily, I figure I should run by versions for you all to decide on. I was thinking 12.5.98 for Last Stop and 5.10.02 for You Never Know. Agree? Disagree?

raven
11-22-2006, 11:36 AM
I agree with the last stop. For YNK I would say either 5.10.02 or 4.7.02

YNK 4.7.02
Stone any good version
