I just asked Tash who was there and it's definitely not from 06. He just posted this info to me. Duh.

No one ever said they were from 2006 only.... it says from the "past 20 years" so yes it's solo.. trust your ears people.. no drums = solo.

Also, to those bitching about Cortez.... spend the $60 to save the kids for pete's sake... it's the time of year for giving and we have all pirated plenty of music that we can afford to kick a little bit up for the kids.....

I'm just not interested in any of the other music so I'll save my $60 for another worthwhile cause.

Um....I'm a nurse and the manager for a volunteer group. I volunteer daily. So I'm plenty charitable, but thanks. I'm also currently living in a hostel in London with no access to my bank account, living on the equivalent of about $80 a week. So yeah. No guilt here.

ok that's fine... but don't bitch that you can't get Cortez on it's own.. in the days before iTunes we would have all been forced to buy the whole set for $60 in the stores if we wanted the 3 DM related tracks and people would have done it.... so just look at this release in that manner....

I understand that.... and in that case you just miss out... everyone has to make decision about where and what they spend their money on....

maybe I unfairly quoted gemma's post so I'm sorry... but I seriously got 3 IMs and saw multiple posts bitching about not being able to get Cortez and I got fed up... this is all 100% for charity not for "the man"....

I just think you are blowing people's disappointment at not being able to buy that track out of proportion. I took it as more a "man, too bad I can't buy that track individually" and not "fuck this charity and fuck those kids!"

Yeah I was mad because they allow you to purchase some tracks but not others. It's a marketing scheme and if it weren't for the fact that it's for a charity, I would be irritated.

Not sure if does hurt the quality or not, but didn't you make a huge deal about not wanting anyone to make an mp3 from your recordings, as it would sacrifice quality? Seems a bit hypocritical ;)

dsera
11-21-2006, 04:44 PM
It's only 128 bit in iTunes to begin with. I don't think quality loss is an issue.

these are only available in lossy formats...releasing it after being transcoded a 2nd time (from cd to aac to mp3 to post) is much different from someone spreading a tape in a lossy format. It was once available in a lossless format. These are not.

I know iTunes/Apple encodes in 128 so you can fit more onto the iPod's but that really sucks that they aren't letting you purchase in a higher quality (ie 192)

No. And don't PM admins asking for official releases. It's likely to get you booted from this site. Go buy the songs if you want them so badly.
