Wow, a tour announcement on a Sunday afternoon?

its not a tour, its 2 stand alone shows at the mgm grand in vegas, it reeks of coran trying to start the year off with a payday before they go abroad.

as if a cruise was not bad enough, now we have a greatest hits CD and a vegas night act to deal with

In the two days, we'll most likely hear the 5 full band songs we've already heard, and maybe one new one (like American Baby in '05)

In that case, if the new album sucks, this is the last chance to get shows without an overload of bad new songs.

Possibly, there's no saying. I just don't think anybody should go banking on new material. I don't see DMB doing anything special for these shows, so I'm not going to bother making the trip.

The Horden is a good venue. I'm glad they are doing 2 shows there instead of doing what Ben Harper did this year and play one night at the horrible Sydney Entertainment Centre.

And I can't beleive they are going to Adelaide. Thats pretty random :lol

I've been on the fence lately myself with the releases and the past 2 tours..I've went from 'really liking' this band to listening to them every couple of months. I mean, I just realized that I used to go without a day not listening to dmb, and now I haven't listened to them in over a month. The same goes with me and Jimmy Buffett, his tours are sucking more and more each year...he's gone 'country' his past 2 albums...and ticket prices to see him are $120+....Ha. Fuck that. I have sirius, and I'll just continue to go to the parking lot, get fucked up and tape him via sirius and iem. Why even go inside?

I was just talking to someone about this, and I want to say one thing

The ONLY WAY this is acceptable is if it means that they dropped RCA / Coran and the hike in prices is them doing their own booking and not getting discounts or cut from the overhead. I don't even know if this is possible, but thats the only way I would pay this and accept it.

Yeah, the Hordern is pretty much standing room. There are a few rows of elevated seating surrounding the outskirts of the venue (maybe 10 rows around the 3 sides), but they are on a first come first served basis. I've only ever done seats there once, out of the loads of shows I have seen there and it was a nice change but you have to get there really early. Otherwise, get there even earlier for a good spot in GA. I can imagine it being a shitfight for DMB.

If you have seen the Coldplay Live DVD from 2003 or Michael Franti and Spearhead Live in Sydney DVD thats the venue there.

interesting on the pricing - if this doesn't sell well maybe they'll get the message about 07 pricing being this way.

wait. this is dmb/vegas- it will sell well.

These dates seem really random- i wonder if they are doing this to throw a bone to the US fans since dave has the europe dates and dmb is doing australia or if they are trying to reduce the number of fans who travel abroad by giving them a spring show here to see

I'm sure Coran just had to mention the word "Vegas" around Dave and he was game for whatever. :lol

interesting about the prices........they have gone up a little every year, but this is a no go for me.

I have gone to multiple shows for 3 years now and with the setlists being the way they were in the 2nd half of this past tour and now maybe this......1 show for me in 2007.

Its cheap to get there from LA, and if you book far in advance you can stay pretty cheap in Vegas. ... But I'm having a hard time deciding too. Wish we didn't have to decide so early. How can I possibly know what I'm doing in March when its not even December??

I guess if you were able to plan a whole week out there, then it would be one thing, but there is no way i'd go just for the shows, and if I did go for the shows, I would probably only hit up a night.

Yeah you sure called it, not like big name artists and entertainers charge more when they play Vegas compared to other cities.

Go enjoy a $150 celine dion or liza manelli vegas show, but then again your not going to the dmb shows so why does it bother you how much is charged?

True. I saw "O" when I was there in October, and had limited view seats for $115 (plus I was bored to death). DMB is worth more than that.

I'm wondering how much difference there will be between Friday's and Saturday's shows, though. Would they go to the trouble to rehearse a lot of songs for just two shows? Have they ever done this before (playing just a few shows without a whole tour)?

Yes March is always more expensive in Vegas because of the NCAAs and spring break. The excalibur and Tropicana have better rates and are very close to the MGM grand.

I just have a real issue with a hike in ticket prices for a declining product. It not like I don't even think DMB is good anymore, I just don't see how they think they are good ENOUGH as of late to raise ticket prices.

Spare me the whole argument about what other bands are charging, DMB is not on a level with those bands, be it for the better or for the worse.

ive done budget vegas and ive done posh vegas, i cant decide what to do about this one. while i wont need a room for much, i need a place to drop in every couple hours, so preferebly on the strip. we tried the no room thing last year, arrive in town at midnight and check in early morning (desk said a room would be ready by 8a), then nyny fucked us and wouldnt let us check in til 3p.

Riddled with errors as usual. And if you're wondering, no-one in Australia proof-reads anything.

It's certainly a valid argument. It's a little more palatable at least knowing that this is what the AUS shows went for last year (and that it's seemingly a standard price for AUS), and can deal with Vegas being more expensive because it's in a casino. If the summer tour prices are jacked up like this, which I don't think they will be but if they are, then we have a real problem.
