i enjoy this song alot. Even when dave's voice blew on 8.12.06 the lyrics
"there's something
that's gone wrong
inside me
that I can bear
I see you
I soak up
the wonder
forgive my sin"

still got to me. it's a very real song and something most people can relate to (i.e, falling hard for the notion of having someone as opposed to having the actual someone to the extent that it paralyzes you and it's "got you feeling like a kid" and all weak in the knees and shit) even though the lyrics are inconsistent, you still "get" the song. the message is quite clear. it's also one of those songs that casual fans will appreciate as a "crash into me" part two of sorts for its catchy upbeat/morose love song qualities. i'll be interested to see how (if) they lay it down in the studio, because if done properly, i think it can touch the intimacy achieved in the studio track "crash into me." The 6/3/06 version sticks out to me and is the one i listen to most (although the fenway version sounds quite crisp and stellar) but i thought by the end of the tour the song lost something, even though i can't put my finger exactly on what. great tune.

definitely a great song. it might have solid radio success if it turns out well in the studio (and the pedophile lyrics go)

I dont think ive listened to it since the summer tour ended, the fact that it never was really played as well as its debut kind of hurt it for me

One thing that Dave did with IOY that makes me think it has a future is how much he kept saying that he loved it.

We do too, Dave. Don't fuck around :upyours

I havent listened to it in a while. During the tour I kinda got burned out on it bcuz I listened to it all the freakin time. I think it has all the potential to be a big hit if Baston doesnt jack it up.

I dont know why... but I've lost a lil' bit of love for IOY since the Fenway release :dunno

The crispness of the drums, guitar, and bass on that one has only made me appreciate the song more.

Yup.. but the "horn-work" is lacking in the Fenway version a little bit imo... maybe it's the mix, but 'Roi and Rashawn's work doesn't raise the hairs on my arm like earlier versions of the song like 6.14.06

Yes. Call me old fashioned but I think this is why it is hands-down the best new song from this year.

dave is waaaay too high on the fenway version. his voice is high during the chorus all the time, but with it normal and the shitty mix of fenway i find it tough to get through.

i wasnt counting LWS, just with what they turned into. YNK is great, but i dont think it touches Idea, Shotgun is VERY close, but its not complete...same for Good Good Time

Wow I really like this song but I'm really suprised at the ballwashing going on. It's seems hard to call it the best song since 2000 or BCTS when Dave can barely hit notes. Either was fuckin' great song, especially on the Fenway where they fixed up his voice a whole lot.

great song... defintiely set the pace for the new 2006 songs... but I can't put it in the top 5 post-2000 songs... definitely toward the top of the list though.

I put Shotgun over JTR just cause i like it's raw sound right now... still in the working stages. But post 2000... I'd put You Never Know on the list as well

Wow, I didn't realize how much love this song got. Over at the old place, I mostly noticed stuff about the "pedophile" lyrics, which blew my mind, because that comes from either people not getting the song, or taking lyrics out of context, or just looking for something to rag on.

I love this song, and it did set a great tone for the summer's new stuff, but I also agree that I've lost a little love for it. The debut was amazing, and since then, it kinda became one of those "Everyday" songs for me, where when I hear it, I can get into it, but I always start off thinking, "This one again?" It bothers me that it only took a few months for that to happen.

I like this song too, but maybe you feel that way, and I have almost felt this way, but maybe its b/c the song goes no where. Its like a Crash, Satellite, or WAYG.

dave's little yells make the debut for me.... hell, after listening to 6.2 again, he's randomly tossing in excited yells in the middle of most every song. Seemed like he was loving being up there that night.
