i grew tired of seek up the last few years. it was my favorite for a while (back when RR came out through about 02), but i felt the song got a little tired. after seeing such a tits version at chula vista though, im back on the game and have been listening to every version i have. its simply an incredible song.

I loved the Charlottesville version. The verse-switching kinda irks me though.

This Seek Up (among the rest from this run) is yet another reason why the 2002 winter tour is extremely underrated.

I might disagree. The tour only seemed to become pretty good from 12-16-02 on. The other shows are very forgettable.

Was front row for this, in the tiny Blue Cross Arena- pretty cool little arena. Weather was snowy and Dave was clearly out of it was well as his voice bothering him. He almost stopped in the middle of Captain, frustrated that he not only couldn't hit the high bits but didn't want to even play the song at all. He was shaking his head and kinda threw up his hands like 'well, that was a mistake' An altogether solid show--this Seek Up was a special moment. IMO, it's one of those shows that comes across MUCH better on tape than it did being there- listening to the whole show.

Out of any of the shows I've seen, I've never seen a better Carter/Butch moment. They were feeding off each other pushing it higher during the outro jam. One of the highlights of the winter '02 tour.

And it's funny, even with that performance, the following night in Albany- a long forgotten show even then, was a better show. Dave was feeling better and it was clear that the general mood on stage had improved.

GREAT performance. Glad to have been there.

Nope, they did that Halloween at 12/16 also.

I dunno how anyone can call any non-2006 Loving Wings the best ever anymore.

While 12-14-02 has some highlights, it isn't a standout show, IMO. That Loving Wings is good, but there are other versions I like better. 12-14, 12-16 and 12-17 all had the slow Halloween teases. Bartender, again, was good, but there are better. The quality of the recordings, either audio or video, don't make a show any better. I still feel the winter tour didn't start getting really good until 12-16.

9-8-06, you mean?My guess is 9.7.02 from the Gorge and also he probably meant to say 9.23.06 since it wasn't played 9.22.06. If those are the versions he was talking about then I would definitely have to agree on those being the top three versions of Loving Wings ever played and I would also agree with that order.

But the other teases did not get the props that this one did...

DMBand.com Road Page Notes
We had a fun show tonight at U of I in Champaign, IL. The circular shaped arena made for a more intimate setting than usual. During the encore we heard a loungy version of Halloween which surprised everyone. Tonight after load-out we're heading east. See y'all in New York on Manday.

And yes it is one of those shows where you had to be there. The crowd was on fire and that Loving Wings has to be one of the best Carter moments ever. It was just unreal to see the band take that song to a whole new level that night. Not to mention the only YNK played on the Winter tour. And the 2006 Loving Wings are very light compared to that version and the I dream of Jeanie interpolation didnt do it for me at all.
