This thread will definitely be entertaining if people are honest.

I'll go ahead and admit I actually enjoy listening to HFTGL from 6.2.06 :boohoo

I'm just finishing listening to 9/12/06. I enjoyed Dreamgirl and YMDT. But I don't really feel guilty about it. They were mixed in properly and performed well. :upyours

Mother Father is another one for me. I just recently listened to it from 7.7.01 and I actually found myself enjoying it a lot. The build at the end is fantastic.

It's not an awful studio track, but it should never be played live. Ever.

I actually enjoy Hunger. And personally believe that many people subliminally only dislike the song b/c it's a Stefan creation. I just don't see it as terrible like many. Not their best, but certainly not the worst.

I like listening to Hunger as well. I think its a great live song too...short and energetic--I think most of the hate for the song comes from it being played at 90 percent of the shows over the past 2 years

I hate sleep to dream live, even if roi adds something extra. I do like the studio track, but it is just too mellow and a crowd killer for a live show

Hunger is just a fluff rock song that any band could play. I think that's the biggest gripe.

I have no problem with it being a Fonz creation (I don't understand why Fonz gets shit on as much as he does) -- I have a problem with it because it's completely uninteresting musically and the lyrics are just hysterical.

And Mother Father is poop. Pure poop.

I'll tack on Angel w/ Lovely Ladies as well. The Folsom version is bearable and I enjoy the jazzy jam. The version with Krasno is also very good.

since when do people automatically hate songs because of stefan? he's responsible for rapunzel and no one hates it...
if anyone hates hunger it's because it blows... not because of stefan's influence

If they scrapped the lyrics and added a guitar/horns part then it could have potential. But then again it would basically be a completely new song minus the bass line :lol

I really enjoy those winter 05 versions. The outro is kind of mesmerizing. I'm probably biased because I experienced this one live, but 12/7/05 with Kras is one of my favorites. I think Boyd's more subtle, drawn out notes are one of the things that kept drawing me back too.

Definitely a guilty pleasure song for me. My second one would be Everyday. I'm not cringing like so many others when it pops up on a setlist.

STDR, So Right

Also ODH D&T '07 style with the outro. It's a sweet little tune about re-capturing your innocence. How can you not appreciate that.

I won't even put WTWE in this list because it's a damn good tune that everyone is too blind to realize. Dave improvised those lyrics off-the-cuff and they're entirely better than half of his new shit.

Hmm...I just went through the guitar riffs to both songs in my head, and strangely enough, I see the similarity. :boohoo

(because apparently the guitar parts are similar to him (:wtf))

Well, they are. At least enough that I can understand why it reminded him of it.

Fool to Think

I like these last lines...

You make a mess of me
Id dance a thousand steps for you
If you say yes to me
Ill be whatever gets you through

nothing guilty about the song or those lines. one of his attempts at a light pop love song that he nailed top to bottom.

I don't feel bad about liking fool to think or let you down. the latter being a studio masterpiece, just gorgeous. I think my real guilty pleasure is probably 'write a song'. it's nothing inspiring or groundbreaking, especially lyrically, but it has a nice groove and I could see it being an effective quick-hitter addition to setlists. it could replace what wtwe used to do in sets before they played it a thousand times.

Stolen Away is the only song i feel guilty about liking, and that's because everyone else hates it so there has to be something legitimately wrong with it but i find it smooth and nice.

I like FTWII and The Space Between. Not sure if those would qualify as a guilty pleasure type of songs or not but I like them.

it's a nice little chill song. Not anything I'd really want to see live, but I can groove to it every now and then.

also really like that song. i understand a 14 year old could have written it, but it's got such a great sound to it the mix and all that (the drum kit abortion aside) and also happens to be another song i think jeff could do some nice work on especially with the soprano.

Its almost the same live????

extended solo, more energy, better feel for me. studio cut bores the hell out of me compared to the rest of the album (minus dive in and baby blue)

Compare the intro/chorus riff of Dreamgirl with the "screaming from the minarets" part from Minarets. Not identical by any means, but similar enough.

I enjoy AB Intro. The 9.19.07 version is just crazy. I also love the 7.21.05 and 9.12.05 versions.

Remember how awesome it was every other performance seeing it build bigger and bigger? I mean I 100% think this tune was in part a cause of Dave's vocal problems but man it was fun watching this grow in 2005.
