Heh, I actually agree with him about a lot of the Crash tracks, but #41 is pretty great. The interplay between Boyd and 'Roi on the flute is awesome.

Yeah, it's all great. I love when Roi takes over on the sax after Boyd's solo, how Carter and Roi sort of mimic each other.

Come on, Bill, we didn't need that imagery :boohoo ;)

Oh yeah- and sidenote: watching Carter on UTTAD to #41 makes one appriecate the song and it's structure even more.

I'm surprised by the lack of Two Step on this list. As great of a song it is live, that studio cut is almost a completely different song than what we have now. I think that song is the most perfect song on crash. The layering of instruments and Dave's vocals is an example of the perfection that Lillywhite brought to the table.

I love Crash, but honestly haven't listened to the CD in years. I think its because all the songs on it are equal or better live (to me anyway), so I just listen to live versions. Two Step and Say Goodbye are two of my favorite songs live.

#1 studio song for me = Dreaming Tree. They hit perfection with that one.

Up until then, it was Proudest Monkey. And I'm convinced that, had they finished the LWS Bartender with only the finally layer of gloss over what we have, it would've taken the prize over DT.

But as of now, DT is the shit.

The studio Crash into Me is fantastic

:upyours So many of the subtleties and nuances that make that song great are totally lost in the live version. And that, to me, is pretty much the defining criteria for what would decide their best studio song. Yeah #41 or Dreaming Tree both sound nice, but both have been surpassed at some point live. I think there's a handful of songs that the band hasn't done justice to live. Spoon, Crash Into Me, Last Stop, Bartender(LWS) would be the ones on the list in my opinion. Maybe Crush as well just because the live version seems much shallower to me. Other than that, all the songs seem to just be improved upon on stage to me.
