Thanks Crumbo... For anyone that doesn't have this jump on it. It is a great show.

Two of the songs were selected for the Recently EP and the versions from this source sound exactly the same.

this show is so damn good... tim was so creative with the things he did back then, everything sounds so new and fresh.

on a seperate note, is there a way to make an audio cd straight out of the shn? so the disc is completely lossless?

man alive, how pure is this show? Tim's additions are so natural, and Dave's voice is great

these days are looong past us... dave sings like a lawn mower cranks, and writes lyrics like a man who is rich, loves his wife, kids, and just has a general happiness for his place in life

so again, does anyone know the answer to this ^ ?

.wav is lossless

do you just want to back up the shns on a cd?

if so, just burn it as a data disc

That Recently is proof of how Tim can and should cut back on the effects, and it would enhance a great deal of the songs in that acoustic setting.

no, i dont want a data disc... i guess what i really want is to just avoid converting the files and burn the shn's straight to an audio disc

if you convert to wav, it won't affect the quality

depending on what program you use, there may be a plug-in that will do it.

Actually the Watchtower from the Recently EP is from 2.22.94. The only ones from 2.21.94 are Watchtower and Nancies...

EDIT: I meant Warehouse and Nancies were from 2.21.94 not Watchtower and Nancies...

I thought you were saying they edited the "wooo Watchtower Baby" out of the Recently EP and I was just mentioning that the Watchtower was from a night later. Perhaps I misunderstood you...

Plus I meant Warehouse and Nancies were the only ones from the Recently CD but I said Watchtower...

here's some good info about this show from the minarets archive (what a great resource by the way):

From: COGBILLJ@guvax.acc.georgetown.edu
Subject: The Birchmere...oh what a night
To: minarets@moose.uvm.edu

OH wow!

It sure was a great show tonight, Dave and Tim at their utmost best. I met Wayland and Kwon there tonight...my first real outside contact w/ other netters. Wayland is posting the set list so I won't spend time on that here.

About the show...(my two cents)...So Much to Say, with Tim using the slide and Dave as animated as ever was awesome, the encore of Angel then Watchtower was tremendous.

The Birchmere was really neato...everyone sat at tables, but were just as enthused as most shows I've seen.

Personal great moments: I was able to meet T-bone Burnett, the producer of the Counting Crows cd who was there to hear Dave. Talked to John Alagia and Doug Derryberry some...and after the show Christopher Sabec was going to drive me back to my Gtown home but first we got to drop Dave and an RCA guy named Bruce off at the Marriot. It was so cool being in the car w/ Dave...the guy is hilarious...actually damn near obnoxious, he was talking with this Brooklyn mafia accent about...well, I'll let you use your imagination. It was great. Dave took an arm extended picture w/ the camera of both of us.

whew.
sorry, I rambled.
Jamie Cogbill

PS--tix for the BAyou are $10 w/o service charge...yes it is 18+, yes get there early for your tix.

Hello fellow netters! Just got back from the Dave and tim show at the Birchmere in Alexandria,Va. He is a quick review ofa mellow but intense show...

The show was great, during the show someone joked around and screamed "Halloween" dave said he would play it Tuesday and saturday night! Also has anyone heard of T-Bone Burnette(jams on guitar)? he is producer for RCA out of Los Angelas? Well, it was good to meet Jamie and Quan, hope to see some of you all this week, look for me taping.

Actually, T-Bone is not with RCA...he is famous in his own right. He is the husband of Sam Phillips ( a talented singer-songwriter) and an acclaimed record producer. T-Bone's latest accomplishment is the Counting Crows CD. He also did a number of Elvis Costello and ZZ-Top albums. I will try to post T-Bone's entire discography for everyone's information.

Also, the name of the tune he played with Tim Reynolds is called "Humans from Earth."

The reason T-Bone was at the Birchmere is that he is considering producing and DMB management is considering having him produce the RCA release (it is a MUTUAL decision). So far, so good. Dave and T-Bone really got along well. Tonight, T-Bone will meet the band at Trax and we'll have to wait and see where things go from here.

Later,
Christopher

Christopher Sabec was - at the time - DMB's lawyer and is now CEO of Jerry Garcia Estate LLC.

"Bruce from RCA" is obviously Bruce Flohr, A&R man for RCA who signed DMB. http://www.record-labels-companies-guide.com/interview-rca-records.html

I love that Minarets archive. All kinds of cool stuff there. Funny to think T-Bone could have produced the first record.

Also anybody who doesn't have it should DL that Prism Coffeehouse show bigtrain upped. Very cool show.

I've heard that T-Bone came close to producing DMB, and as much as I like Steve Lillywhite's work, I sometimes wonder what would have happened if DMB had been with T-Bone for its' first few albums.
