:lol i'm just saying.... you never know.... i felt this way about sugar will in december of 2004 and that didn't end pretty

Shotgun was the best of the summer tunes though, and I enjoyed all of them a lot except "can't stop."

it is that good of a song. incredible live. i cant wait to hear it in the studio (provided it doesnt get all stand up polished).

The song structure is set. I love the meandering feel to it. All it needs is Dave to sit down with a pen and pad of paper.

I love this song too and this isn't aimed at you, but its kinda hard(the joy is there when listening to old stuff or some cool show) to be joyful when the band has dumped great tunes for shit twice on the fans. I have a huge wall of not getting attached too much to Shotgun. Its amazing, but they could either forget it or make it suck ass in the studio.

its perfectly reasonable, after what has happened the last 6 years (?!) to have your guard up about the band and these tunes.

I could only imagine seeing Shotgun and Sugar Will in the same concert. I'd shit myself.

I do like it, but definitely not as much as most people here. Musically I find it a bit too repetitive to go on for as long as it does. I think in the second half of the song, Roi should just bust out into a solo or something to make it more exciting.

Shotgun is the best.

i really wish i would have seen this either at SPAC or even better at Fenway. it should have been played either night instead of the double-dose of "Can't Stop".

Something like say, for an average show:

Grey Street
What Would You Say
The Idea of You
Shotgun
Joy Ride
Louisiana Bayou
One Sweet World
Sugar Will
Rhyme and Reason -->
Good Good Time
<new tune>
Lie in Our Graves
You Might Die Trying
<new tune>
So Much to Say -->
Too Much
---------------
<mellow new tune, that doesn't bring the beat back>
Tripping Billies

DMB Summer 2007. Make it happen, boys.

Too many of the non-new songs you posted need breaks, particularly Grey Street, Too Much, and OSW.

The non-new songs aren't the point. The point is building a set around an album centered around the '04/'06 songs and new songs that are those type of tunes (i.e. DMB-sounding tunes).

Plus those are tunes that will always be in sets...but yeah, its all about new material now.

Oh and replace one of those <new song>s with Kill the King. Because that is badass as well.

Exactly, and I mean, if they're touring behind a good album, digging deep into the catalog is kind of an added bonus.

That's my main issue with DMB sets now. I don't mind the idea of going into a tour with a core set of songs to build the sets around all summer. It's practical. I just wish they'd change that core group from year to year. As for Shotgun, it's about as optimistic I've been about a new DMB song since YNK. Although I will say this, looking at the songs from this years tour, this album appears to be all over the map. Not sure how I feel about that.

which version contains the lyrics "like balloons from a child's hand"?

I thought a few had that, but I think it's 8/25/06. I say this because I remember the line very very well, and that's my fave version and the one I've listened to the most by far.

What I want is to go into a 2007 show, hear 7 new songs scattered throughout the set, and still really enjoy the show. That is my absolute #1 wish for 2007.
