If the band sent an e-mail that said they were going to play Halloween at a specific concert, would you make every effort to go to it? I was just listening to 12-7-98, and honestly, I would do everything possible to get to that concert, regardless of what else they played.

Erm...well I've seen it many many times already but even if I hadn't I don't think I would go out of my way for it at all. It's ONE song. I love it but...seriously?

And also, a huge part of the attraction of that song for people these days is the surprise of hearing it. If you already knew it was going to be played most of the surprise and excitement would be gone.

I've seen it a couple times already so it's not really something I'm dying to see. There are other songs I'd rather see.. Exodus and full band Blue Water for example.

is this a serious question? would people really go out of their way to see this song?
i would go all the way to Starwood here in Nashville, to see Halloween. i would also go all the way to Starwood to see Hunger.

I would only consider traveling a ridiculous distance to see DMB and Bela & Flecktones + Tim together for an entire show...not for one song.

I've had time to let that show simmer, and I still don't care what anyone says, I had a goddamned balls-to-the-wall time at that show.

Awesome show.

It is one of the few reasons i see 10 shows a summer. Over 50 shows, I got some stupid little tease back on 12/16/02. I just want the night where it comes out of nowhere and BOOM!!! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed most of the shows I have been to. Im sure alot of you can relate that after a while it isn't even about the show, it becomes more about the atmosphere, hanging out with friends, and having a good time. But to answer the question honestly, yea I would travel anywhere in the US knowing for sure i was going to hear halloween. Not only would I add one of the last songs I really want to hear, but also enjoy traveling.

But what if some nut ran up on stage and Dave cut Halloween cause he's a pussy? Then what would you do?

:lol truthfully I thought it was coming that night. I was honestly mad at the time that the end of the had to be so average, but when i look back, those were two sweet shows. However, this guy didn' get mad when an instance comparing to that took place. I understand the difference of the two though.

Half the fun of Halloween is its spontenaity.

Yeah, I think it wouldn't be nearly as good if you knew it was coming. The one time I saw it, at Red Rocks, what made it so awesome was that they just did it midset in response to the crowd chanting for it.

Let You Down, Spoon, Halloween, EWU.

of songs they've played live before, that's about it for me. the first three, i'd go pretty far to see them. i want to hit the Gorge someday anyway.

if i really wanted to see it that badly i would just go to the big 3 night stand on an album tour year and i would.

I'd never travel for a song, and I haven't seen Halloween yet. I'd feel I got my money's worth with an average 2006 set than I would with a subpar set and Halloween.

I heard them both in the same show :p

I have seen it twice and even if I hadn't I wouldn't go out of the way for it. Sure I would love to hear it again but its all about the spontenaity which people stated before. Which is why Halloween from Red Rocks is probably my favorite moment by this band even though it's such a sloppy version. The shocking/excitement feeling would just not be there in the crowd if we were pretty much all expecting it.

well fuck if i wanted to see halloween i'd just go to the big shows. MSG RR or Gorge.

but i'd only travel if i saw a '94 type halloween along with minarets, spoon, DT, blue water, #41 with BFT and Tim and Seek up.

I don't think I'd go anywhere special for one song.

Plus, most of the fun in songs like Halloween comes from not knowing when it's going to appear.

Getting it at the end of 12/7/98 was enough to last me a lifetime. Getting it on 9/11/05 was a bonus.

I like it and all, but frankly I think this song has had way too much importance placed on it.....same thing for Last Stop (again this is my opinion).
At this point in my life, what would make me travel for a show is not what song I know I'm gonna hear, but what friends that I know are going to be there.

The surprise of getting Halloween is half the fun. I would probably explode at a show if I heard Carter bust into it. Like old times motherfucker...
