Went to the Cutting Room show as well. Thought it was good but I prefer him with Fish. I am probably gonna go to that OAR show since it will be pretty cool to see Matt playing the Garden.

You know the first time I saw Matt Nathanson live-it was at an OAR show. The tickets were cheap, so I decided "why not?" Plus Howie Day was opening (before i hated him). Anywho-Matt opened for the opener, and blew me away. Seriously. I barely tolerated Howie Day's show, and didn't even watch a minute of OAR:lol Which is a good thing because that is how I met Matt :rawk

I knew nothing of him then, I just thought he was hysterical and put on a good show. The picture I have with him, i look like shit because i just had a beer dumped on me.:rant

edit: I also told him about the drunk fucktards spilling beer all over me-and he signed his cd "Kick them in the balls next time" <3.

i have a couple things matt signed for me... i believe they are all about rawking out in som capacity or another :lol :lol

i made him sign my harry potter book 1 too :lol :lol my friend alyssa, who i don't think made it here, (i met her on ami, then we hung out in '04, and she is a kid i went to college with's cousin) is pretty much the biggest matt fan ever. it is fun hanging out with her b/c matt always lights up when he sees her, it is awesome :lol :lol

He wrote "John is King!" on my ticket stub when I saw him in Indy a couple of months ago.

I guess he noticed that I knew all the new songs and saw me in the front row.

I met my current girlfriend over a year ago at a Matt Nathanson show in DC. Later in the week we decided to see him again together in Towson, MD and she signed up to work his merch table so I helped her out. He seemed very grateful and signed a poster for me: "sean is a pimp". Hes an awesome guy. He might not be the most skilled musician or songwriter but he definately puts on an entertaining show.

so yeah, on the 'at the point' album.....i'm the guy that requests 'Cheetah Penis'. What can I say, it's my claim to fame.

Why did you yell Cheetah Penis? Just because you knew matt would be like what the fuck and mention it? or were you saying something else?

He said "Beat It".

Matt couldn't hear him.

Ya, doesn't it say August in the last journal entry?

Matt's last journal entry:

2.19.07
los angeles, ca
sweet progress

in the studio, cutting vocals.
i just sung 'noisy hearts' and 'still'.
marshall is making a comp.
mark is sitting next to me, continuing his pursuit of geekest-male-ever-over-age-30 by playing some computer D&D game called 'world of warcraft'....
on a PC! yikes!
i hope nerd is not contagious.

it was a pretty fucking triumphant week of tracking the new songs.
i can say this because, other than me being there, i really had nothing
to do with it. i just sang and played acoustic.
but the tracks are seriously unbelievable.
it was surreal actually how good the band was.
and the engineer, karl.
and the room, the boat in lovely, and oh so hip silverlake.
and marshall, mark and i almost got along.
i might have threatened a few lives... but that's to be expected.
the band for this round was:
aaron tap, guitar. john thomasson, bass. michael chavez, guitar.
ben west, keyboards. jason mcgerr, drums.
everyone was stupidly good. we tracked most of it live.
MVP definitely goes to mcgerr who just fucking SLAYED it.
it was such a pleasure having him there to anchor everyone.
and groove like he had jelly in his pants.

this fucking record is so good! ah!
can't wait. i think it's coming out in august.
and i PROMISE you are going to love it.

more later,
me
