I recently got on a kick of performing blues songs when I play shows. So far I only have 3 songs under my belt. Love In Vain, Me and The Devil Blues - both songs by Robert Johnson. And, Rock Me Baby by Muddy Waters I think. Anyway, does anybody have any ideas on some other blues songs that are fun to do solo acoustic guitar?

Pretty much anything Hot Tuna or from Clapton's "From the Cradle" are great solo acoustic songs :upyours

Do what Buddy Guy does, just play one blues riff and sing a bunch of blues tunes that fit that riff, just a verse or two and chorus or two from each. Also try:

There's also a tune that Buddy does that uses the Hoocie Coochie Man riff, called Love Her With A Feeling. It's a great tune, and the lyrics (with the best part in italics) are:

The woman I love man you know she kind-a
She kind-a big and fat
And what I like about the woman man
Is it's kind-a good like that

You gotta lover her with a feelin' man
Oh, or you better not love this woman at all
You better love her with a feelin' man
Or you better not a love her at all

She said I love you Buddy you know and
There ain't no doubt
I'm gonna open up my little book and
Let you knock you goddam' fool self out

You gotta to love her with a feelin'
Or you better not love at all
You got to love her with feelin' man
Or you better not love this child at all

One leg in the east
One leg in the west ah
I'm right down the middle ah
Tryin' to do my best

You gotta love her with a feelin' man
Or you better not love this woman at all
You better love her with a feelin' man
Or you better not love this child at all

I did? Nice!

Hesitation Blues is one I still occasionally break out. I still prefer the HT version of "I Know You Rider" to the Grateful Dead version.

I love playing Taj Mahal's version of Sleepy John Estes' Leaving Trunk. Taj plays it in Bb, but I've been sliding it around to fit within other songs.

Ex.

Leaving Trunk (in F#) ->
