People ask us all the time...."What's your favorite place to play?" Now, you got your Gorges and you got your Red Rocks and so on, but there's an inexplicable magic that envelopes Alpine Valley. The band is the first to tell you how much they like coming back.
Alpine Valley has once again proven itself one of our favorite stops on a summer tour. Dave says it every time we're here. The slope of the seats makes it appear as though we're performing before a wall of people. Kind of like the IMAX of rock venues. An energizing view from the stage. We've come to develop a bit of a tradition here over the years. The band and crew enjoy gathering on stage around the time doors open to watch the running of the fans over the crest of the hill and down the steep expanse of lawn in their quest to claim the ideal spot.

Word on the snowy streets of Wisconsin is that DMB will be at Alpine on August 9th and 10th. I know it seems early to start the date rumors, but this is coming from a good source. So let the rumors begin. Just close your eyes and imagine sitting in the hot sun, drinking some beverages of your choice, and listening to DMB. Ah yes, almost makes it feel like it isn't actually 10 below zero right now.

Do you all think they will ever do a three-night stand at Alpine?

I mean, it's been talked about before, and they have enough material these days to do it, plus it always sells out, so why not?

RB3
03-05-2008, 05:09 PM
I'd be very surprised if they ever did a three night stand. They sell more tickets in 2 nights than your average venue does in 3, so I don't see it happening... not that ticket sales should be a legit reason for this.

Right, but that's why I'm wondering, because they sell so many tickets and they are usually sold out, if not damn close to it.

RB3
03-05-2008, 05:27 PM
I think they could definetly sell out three nights if they did not play a Chicago show, and scheduled it during the middle of the summer, because like last year alot of kids were already away at college, and alot of the high school kids had class the day after the Sunday show.

Agreed. I'll be interested to see if they leave Tinley Park off the tour stops again, and if Toyota Park is in there or not.

I live in milwaukee and make the drive back and forth each night, isn't to big of a problem. To make it easier just be sure to stay on the west side of Milwaukee near New Berlin or Brookfield. It would equal a half hour ride tops to the venue.

For anyone who's interested:

The last 3 years, we have stayed at a place called "Ye Olde Manor". It's a bed & Breakfast joint right on Highway 12 in Elkhorn (about 10 minutes south of Alpine).

The people who ran it allowed people to camp on their property for $25 a night. While there, they serve you breakfast, let you use their showers, etc. They had a bonfire pit for use as well for after the shows. I'd say every year I was there, there were probably 20-30 other campers/DMB fans to hang out with as well. Very nice people who ran it. They sold it last year, so I don't know if the new people still allow that.

Anyway, I thought it was great. Here is their website if you want more info.

OK, I've officially had it with the Warehouse... I'm a day one member and got fucking LAWN for BOTH Alpine shows... What the fuck?! My friend who is also a day one member requested Lower Pavillion and got Upper Pavillion.

When the Warehouse opens on Monday morning at 11am, they will walk in to the phone ringing. I pitty the person who answers it.

what happened with this?

I would like to hear about this as well, but I am sure it's something like this..

A senior member complaining about getting the shaft with lawn seats when he requested best available and another thinking he got the shaft because he didn't get in lower pavilion just because he is a senior member. Even though being a senior member plays no part in any of these outcomes. :lol

it probably all just depends on your seat #s, being in 201 Q would be better than being closer in 101 more to the side. there is also a nice incline right around the area of your seats.

ya they are gonna likely be off to the side. it does depend a bit on the seat numbers. i was right there last year and while close, it was not a full view. still pretty great seats imo though. we just slipped closer to the middle as the show went on and like 10/15 seats away from me was much better.

no boyd or butch. i was able to see most all of carters kit and dave fine. i wish i could find my tix to tell you the numbers. i was probably 20 or 25 seats from the inside isle. part of my view was blocked by the big screens from the stage last year too.

i moved just a bit over and those were great. they are quite close, but not a full stage view.

Last year, I had 103 uncovered and we had to move over. I don't remember the row...but the seats were terrible. We could only see half the stage. At other venues, the side sections may not be bad, but alpine uncovered could be a nightmare. We may just move to the back of the pavillion where there are open seats. Only two months away! It depends on how much your willing to spend. Lake Delevan is alot of fun, and isn't more than 20 minutes from the venue. Avoid Geneva, it's going to be packed. If you're trying to keep it cheap I'd find something in the Delevan area, but it might be hard to get a cab to the venue from there.

I don't think they made a new one. I threw it in the first post assuming they would update it.

Ok thanks!

Picking up my seats from Fed-Ex today. My seats are pretty terrible, but at least I will be there. Can't wait! And it looks like the weather will be a good 15-20 degrees cooler than here in FL. Should be a great time.

Man I can't fucking wait for these shows. I've been up to Alpine for Phish a few times, but this will be my first time there for DMB. My wife and I are taking my little brother on a nice road trip and these will be his first DMB shows.

Hopefully the Little Thing teases end up with it played in full at Alpine, and I'd love to see a nice long #40. First time seeing Tim full band though, so everything they play will be enjoyed by me.

anyone here sit in 101 or 103 before? I got offered a few sets in either section but am hesitant cause I know off to the side can be sketchy. Anyone give me an idea of how close you need to be to the aisle to still have a good view... like first 10 seats, 20... THANKS!

20 seats from the aisle would be horrible. 10 might be manageable.

:) Agreed.

I just booked a room in Wauwatosa (Crowne Plaza - looks like a decent place with a nice bar and pool/hot tub). What will you guys be doing during the day or late night Saturday?

We may hit a Brewers game one day (or Cubs game on Friday).

Are you going to the Cubs game on Friday? I'm flying into Chicago on Thursday and want to try to make that Friday game. If so have you looked into tix? Does anyone know how hard it will be to get at least a single ticket?

Also, I still haven't booked by hotel room yet, so if anyone has any tips please still let me know. Are there any bad parts of Milwaukee (or Racine) I should stay away from?

Can't wait for these shows, will be 35 and 36 for me and the last two for me this year. First time there.

The sets have been so great this summer and I got to meet Dave at a meet and greet (Blossom). 2008 will go down as one of, if not my favorite, DMB summer so far and these shows are going to be Sick!

yea, I'm not the kind who likes to get there early and tailgate. I'd rather get in lot at 7:30 and be in my seat by 8. So I'm usually stuck in traffic for an hour or more trying to get into lots.

you can't "plan" to get into the lot at 7:30 at alpine. it's way too big for that. you plan to park by 7:30 you won't get parked til 8 if you are lucky.

w/o those I'm at 37 & 38. With D+T and D+F I'm at 39 & 40. I'll go by without though, because at my 34th show I got #34. Cheating a little bit but I got Everyday at my 36th show. So for my 40th show.....
