I'm definitely making the trip to Hershey again. Hershey was my first show of the tour in 06. There wasn't a better way to start it off than with a Bowa opener.

I'm considering going to this show since I'll be in DC for business the day before, but I keep hearing bad things about this venue. What's the deal with this place? With ticket prices higher this year is it worth it? Also, is a drive back to DC doable after the show or does everyone recommend staying in the area?

i went there every year since 2001 and never had a problem. I actually really enjoy the open stadium feel a lot more than the pavillion. Sections A B and C and even right behind that in the middle are all pretty good seats (with good sound). Things get bad as you go back but I haven't been in that situation since '01

After they skipped Hershey last year, I'm very anxious to attend this summer. There's something special about being in the middle of nowhere on a humid summer night engulfed by the smell of chocolate seeing a DMB show. Hopefully they'll have the laser light stuff going on too.

The show normally sells out but not until the day of show... If its a field seat or in the first 2 sections of the stadium, you shouldn't have too much trouble unloading it...

whats better, field or stadium?

If you can get reserved field, you want reserved field... Basically the front half of the stadium is seated and the back half is GA... Reserved field is relatively small but it offers the best seats and the best sound...

Yea, those should be solid. My old man actually has the tickets at his place (he lives in the Hershey area), so I'll give him a call this week and find out my exact seat locations for this... i do know its Sec A, row 7 though.

I'm getting more and more excited for this. Hershey has become a yearly stop for me since 1998, and I greatly missed it last year. My dad has lived in Hershey for the past 12 years, so we've made it a point to go to this show together every summer. How does seat numbering go in section A? Are the lower numbers or higher numbers closer to the inside aisle?

ThememanXX

I believe 1 begins on the outside, but I've seen charts that differ. I'd say the higher numbers are closest to B.

when facing the stage, seat 1 is always to right of a section (seat 1 is the yellow dots)

take Route 39 in... most people probably take 81, so i've found 39 to be a breeze everytime.

Parking is always pretty easy, i usually park at the stage end of venue (you'll see what im talkin about when youre there)... never have much trouble getting out at all :upyours

i usually dont do the sign thing, but i've been strongly considering it this year... if i do, itll probably be for one of the following... which should i do...

Sugar Will
JTR
Busted Stuff
Spoon
Minarets

...i was leaning towards JTR just cause its simple and i could make the letters monstrous. But i dont know...ill probably end up not doing it.

I was actually considering a sign as well, :lol, and after they dropped 40 tonight, perhaps a 40 sign might be successful.
Although, if you make a spoon sign and they play it - I'll buy ya a beer or thirty...:lol

Comin' from the DC area.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I'm pumped.

I come from the North, so I'm not sure about getting there. I take the Grantville exit off of 81, then take Laudermilch Rd. to HersheyPark Drive. Well out of the way for you.

I'm gonna plan on getting there around 2 or so (leave home around 12:15). I'll be grilling hot dogs and burgers, and will likely have a large, green tent/canopy. (I believe it's a rolling rock tent, but I forget.) I'll need help setting up the tent, you need at least 3 people. So that's where you guys come in.

As other people have said, parking either next to or beside the stage is probably your best bet. I'm shooting for side, but behind works also. As for restaurants in the immediate area:

My suggestion for eating is the Hershey Pantry, about 1 mile past the Chocolate Factory on Chocolate Avenue. Quaint, unique menu, excellent food. You also won't find a better breakfast elsewhere.

The Warwick Hotel, as mentioned, is an excellent alternative. Huge menu, all good.

Houlihan's (not Hennigan's) on the square of Hershey is superb. Not your usual chain. The food really is top notch.

There is Pavone's, on Route 39, which is another place where you can find anything and everything on the menu.

The Bear's Den has standard fare, but is worth the Herhsey Bears nostalgia.

There is a Garden Cafe in the Hershey Hotel. You get to experience the Hotel atmosphere, at a fraction of the cost of the Circular Dining Room. Great brick oven pizzas, and of course, great desserts.

There are still more, but these are the highlights. Let me know if you need more info.

No problem. I'll post more detailed info as the show gets closer (maybe once the show thread goes up on the main forum) It's also promising that the forecast says 89 with a random thunderstorm, just like Scranton.

Instead, I landed 3 almost aisle seats on the inner side of A-15! :lol

Good times ahead on Friday night... Been to every Hershey show since they first played there 9.29.96 (a killer Seek Up opener that night after an unreal Soul Coughing opening set), and I expect this year to be the best yet after seeing Timmy tear up Camden.

probably took us 15, since we hung around for tossing of the sticks and were slow getting to the car. and by that point they were stopping traffic from time to time to allow people to cross.

but still, yeah, that parking spot was awesome.
