It is southside, so you are not going to find anything "nice" around there. Seek lodging downtown and make a weekend of it or find something farther west for budget.

Do not stay there, from what I remember it wasn't in the best of neighborhoods. I'd suggest staying downtown, as someone suggested. Or stay in Orland Park or Tinley Park. Orland Park is nice from what I remember, and you'd only be like 20 minutes away. You wouldn't have to deal with any crazy traffic. Tinley Park is where DMB used to play their Chicago show, it's also close by.

Location wise or show date wise? I think this will do really well. It is the Chicago show. Plus, Deer Creek isn't until late July and Alpine isn't until early August. I think the show, while not selling out, will do well.

I'm really looking forward to this show - the last 7 years all my shows have been in California, which are always late in the summer/early fall and fairly cool at night. I can't wait for a real summer show!

If you requested VIP, do they tell you seat locations any earlier, or do you still have to wait until ~2weeks before the show?

public transportation there is a pain in the ass, i researched last year and decided the car was the best bet. this is your best bet on public transportation, it isnt that bad but id suggest driving.

Via Public Transportation:
Please take the CTA Orange line to Midway. At Midway, you can connect to the "TOYOTA PARK Express" PACE BUS. The bus will drop you off at TOYOTA PARK and will also be available to bring you back to the Midway stop after the conclusion of Chicago Fire games and concert events.

OK, well I'll put this here before I try the WH and Craigslist -- I have two VIP tickets (includes parking) for sale or trade, section A4 row 16. Will trade for lower Phoenix or Chula Vista tickets. Price is face value ($250 each plus fees).

Alternatively -- if anyone wants to hang out with a married, generally pretty fun chick at the show, I'll sell a single.

I wasn't having any luck on the boards so I posted on craigslist. The post was flagged and removed. I was asking face value so I have no idea why. Anyone ever had any problems selling tickets on craigslist?

I put this in the ticket forum, but I'm willing to accept less than face if anyone wants to make an offer on 2 VIP tickets in A4 row 16. I'll also sell a single.

I didn't do it last year, but I can't imagine it's THAT terrible. Depends on how shitty the shuttle is, I guess. The orange line is always meh and that won't change.

ya im not the biggest fan of the el. i dont think its really any more convenient than simply driving.

my concern is the buses, if they are crazy or disorganized or awful it could sour the experience a bit.

I've done it. The shuttle buses were a disaster last year. We got to Midway said fuck it and took a cab. Then I had someone pick me up from the venue. Just driving this year.

really.

thanks for the info, im driving too then. the shuttle buses are where i figured it would go wrong if anything. the chica doesnt really want to go to the show in the first place, a bad public transportation experience would probably make for a fairly miserable weekend. lolz.

Ha I hear you. I heard bad things about getting out of the lots last year, but its Chicago traffic, so what do you expect? The shuttle buses just aren't worth the risk/annoyance.

I don't want to post it in the main forum out of fear, but does anyone else think our show trumped last night's?

As far as set on paper, I think they are pretty comparable. Having Bela there and the work he did on Cornbread, DDTW, and Ants might have put Toyota over the top.
