this is sort of an unusual choice, imo. we already have most of these songs released. even '95 versions. and disc two only has five songs? and one of them is #40? but warehouse opener, song that jane likes, #36 all make up for it.

i'll buy it. and i'm thinking its safe to assume Live Trax 13 will be Busch, anyway.

It's going to be very rare now to have a LT with a lot of unreleased stuff. At this point, my only criteria is "good show". Bonus points if its a "hidden gem."

I'd buy this one.

I would love to know how they pick the shows they do. This one is really random, but the setlist is flawless, and I'm sure the performance is good.

They must be banking on new tour excitement with the timing of this release.

I'll judge it when I hear it. It doesn't excite me though. #40 and Recently will be good to have. But with 1995 I was happy with RR and LT5. I was hoping for a 1997, 2002, or 2003 show.

#40 lyrics, per the almanac

Send my hand away
So ive lived
Time to turn me away
I see
Lead me on the way
Im ok
And I think of all the things we tied ourselves down
within those days
And snuck and played with them
Give again and hope that youl stay here with me I
wanna see you
Well I wanna lie on the beach?
And we leave back and and lay hands
So crisp and the childs hand to be only this
And away my hearts a fire
Favor of me everythings season be always
Well I will

Well you say your hair will a liar I make of me a fool

But I swear this wine about you?
way back oh yeah
Say Im of all these sadists(over excited)?
These places feel fear?

Drink again to you
Drink with you
You share a little time with more than laughs and
smiles of about a little love
We sail away
we do what we do
I spend my hours with you oh there
And what we like I give you
Hopeless love
To hope you through me friend this time
And we leave this place crying
For more of this the same
Wondering mindfully is this
Waiting

Well the rage of I
I will oh I wont belive
I wont lie
Lie
Lie to me your hair will
Lie and see you wait
Always
And again for you
Waiting

Nothing new but say yes

Yea but Mersh besides 12/8/98, despite the fact that theyve put out some real solid shows, they never seem to be in tune to the shows the fanbase constantly talks about. I think it's absolutely phenomenal that we're getting another '95 - it's far and away my favorite year, but it does seem like theyre throwing darts sometimes.

8.27.00
12.31.96

are also fan favorites...look I know it isn't the majority, but this happens every time. Look at the last 95 we got...people thought it was terrible when it was announced, but its a great release. I hope we get all those shows (6.8.97, 6.10.97, 12.3.98, on and on) in the future too, but sometimes the focus is what we didn't get.

batleon

I'm not complaining. I'm actually looking forward to this one so long as the audio quality is good. It just seems odd, a quick look at the board would find dozens of shows we'd like to see released, yet I don't think a seriously discussed/requested show has been released since LT7. And before that, only LT1 and LT3. 3 out of 12 is a bad ratio.

On the other hand though I never would have thought I'd enjoy LT5 and LT8 as much as I do, so I'm going to trust their choice here. It looks like a very good set.

The great thing about LT5 to me is it's a completely different feel than Red Rocks despite being only a week later. Good release with some unique stuff - Pay For, Exodus, David Ryan Harris :upyoursI like the songs on LT5, but the performance on Red Rocks is unbeatable.

its such a great show to listen to on a summer night. it just really reminds me of what i think dmb is all about. the feeling of the set is so cool and airy. to me it is perfect for a summer set.

like i said before, i'd almost rather us get shows that are not on anyone's radar. i find this to be more the spirit of the Live Trax. every now and then a "fan favorite" is cool (12/8/00, 8/27/00, 12/31/96) but i am more a fan of shows in this series that no one has heard. makes for better listening in my opinion.

my four "complaints" about this show:

1. no #41
2. no Best Of What's Around
3. filler should be added to the last disc (if applicable)
4. it is not a summer '97 show

but those are mild "complaints". i'm excited for this release :upyours

keep these coming Tucker Rogers!

agreed along with red rocks being a lot of peoples first exposure to dmb, it is a different sound than LT5 completely. i feel that RR95 has more of an edge to it. the performances are much more crisp to me. the LT5 set is much more noodlely (if thats a word) and the band seems more experimental to me.

the 40 isnt that exceptional, it'll be cool to have. I still REALLY want a show with a full band 40 (4/7, 4/10 etc) and a 41 Police. Like everyone has been saying though, you can't really go wrong with that year anyway so whatever.

Now see I really like this #40...

I think this is a fantastic release. Let's not forget in 1995 DMB were in a transition period, going from still playing smaller clubs and halls, to ballrooms and pavillions, and then slowly but steadily sprinkled throughout the start of the year into the spring leading into summer, the band finally made it to larger Amphitheatres. This wasn't one of the larger Amphs like say Walnut Creek on 7/26/95(which is a fantastic show by the way), or Greatwoods on 8/31/95. But this show still marks a point in the history of the band where the connection from the fans to the band became the catalyst for these hungry performances and thus the crowd fed off of that and you get these awe-inspired audiences who wanted more and spread the word and allowed the band to perform at these larger venues by the time Summer '95 hit.

5/5/95 promotes the reason why DMB went from playing Lupo's Hotel in Rhode Island in January to the Lakewood Amphitheatre in Georgia on 7/22 which had a supposed attendance of a little over 18,000.

All the MTV rotation, radio air play, and heavy promotion can garner any mainstream act a 20/25 show tour, but if the performances last. If the performances and hunger and energy hold up, the people respond without having flashy ads thrown in thier face or shoved in thier ears. They see it and hear it at the shows and 5/5 is a great example of that.

I want a 1997 show. I want the Live Trax series to recognize D&T performances. I'd like to see a nicely mixed '93 or '94 show. But what I also want from this series is for them to pin-point special moments in thier history, transition periods if you will, and I think they did that here.

Brandon, I love how you express your thoughts and knowledge of the band with such passion, You really brought up some great reasons for this release, I love 95, its such a great year. Like you said its a transition year, and this release could show many differences in sound, crowd, etc. as compared with say LT 5 and Red Rocks. It doesn't matter what you pick, if you order on the day of the annoucment you'll get it the day of release. I have every live trax. I ordered the day they were annouced. Actually you are preaching to the Choir on that one because I always select the cheapest shipping and I always get it on or before the release date here on the West Coast. My main point was that since Super Saver and Standard were the same price and Standard shipping is a quicker method of getting something shipped, he should pick the Standard over the Super Saver....

Anyway, it sounds like it doesn't matter since you get yours around the same time I do when selecting the Super Saver option.

See people. Just select the chaepest shipping. don't fall victim to the Coran train. $18+ for guranteed delevery on release date. Ha, at least two people get the cheapest shipping possible and get it on the release date and they both live on the West coast. Think about that people.

i've never heard this show, so that makes me excited - i was hoping from the beginning the live trax series would bring out more obscure shows.

show looks great - nancies, proudest and wwys were great in '95, full recently, full band typical, #36 - can't wait to give it a listen. 95 was such a great year.

I'm actually surprised more people haven't heard this show. . .

The full early #40 makes it a must have.

The coolest part is that the only recording we have is really shitty and this is a really spirited performance from the band. Dave is hyped up from his opening remarks on. . . ton of davespeak, hope they keep it on the LT. Super fast recently and DIDO.

I'm glad they are pulling shows that we don't have good recordings for. . . now I want that 4-5-95 acoustic show :)

I'm getting giddy just thinking about this show. I feel like a Japanese girl in a hello kitty store.

Yeah it is definitely solo but it is about 3:35. It will be nice to have a SBD of this.

Crap forgot preorder ends at the end of the week.

Kinda surprised they didn't put in any filler for the rest of disk 2. Missed opportunity to give us a few more treats from that tour.

Yeah they really need to think about doing stuff like that. The two song disc three of the Piedmont release was :whatever

Yup, like a 41 Police.

Yup, like a 41 Police.

Maybe they don't want to release something like a 41 Police. Maybe because it's too raw? The obvious choices for another summer '95 and a spring '95 show would have been 8/20 and 4/7, yet they gave us 8/23 and 5/7. Eh, just a thought, I'm probably just looking too much into it.

JWood
06-23-2008, 12:03 PM
Yeah, I thought that could be the case too. Although a version like 8.20.95 is a pretty polished pre-#41 version, IMO. I'd like to see them take some chances by putting stuff out there. I mean we have versions of songs where Dave's voice is completely shot, or Roi is omitted from parts of the song, Boyd out of tune, numerous lyrical flubs, some music mixups, etc.

It would be cool if they started including soundchecks for some shows in cases like this. That way they wouldn't be "infringing" on other shows for possible future releases.
