This is easily my favorite of the first 6 releases. Such a great show, and the crowd is fantastic.

carter's drums really hurt this one IMO, they just take away a lot.

Yea, I'm with brandon, this one is the best. The rhyme is out of control. The watchtower also brings me back.

After another listen, I may have changed my mind...this might be the best of the first batch. I am between this and Blue Note.

I got this the other day and am listening to it now. On Ants...I really like this show, but I think I prefer the Blue Note show more....though I do like that this has R&R and Minarets. STJL and PFWYG are great as is the old skool Two Step!

Man this R&R is the shit! I love these lyrics!

while i still don't like carter's drums, i listened to some of this last night on some good headphones and performance wise i think this is better than blue note

Not to sound like a broken record, but does this one have the gaps? I am really interested in this Rhyme, and I like the looks of this setlist.

the rhyme/minarets/watchtower combo to the show is awesome. this rhyme is one of the better that i've heard.

:lol we all do, it's just easy to notice when there's only a one or two dozen regular posters here.

but really, the 3 song close to this is great.

Bought this last night and listening now. Great so far. Of course I can't help but pay unusually close attention to Carter's drums. Thanks Dissident :rolleyes

Based upon all the recommendations I went ahead and made this my first download from the DMBlive Series and needless to say I am very pleased. Honestly, I would much rather download older, rarer shows like this than the flavor of the week "best show ever", fingers crossed for 3/23/93 (Big League Chew) - we need a full band BWBF.

Honestly I think the period between Peter's departure and the release of UTTAD is one of the best and most important periods in the history of the band. There is a LOT of good stuff there. This show gives you a serious taste of it.

This is the sort of thing I'd like to continue to see in these releases - solid show with just that little something extra you can't find anywhere else (in this case the Rhyme, which just smokes).

I agree. And yeah those R&R performances right before they went into record it were some of the best.

this R&R is awesome, i liked when these lyrics were changed every night (3-17-93's rhyme is also different), and roi, damn i miss him...

we need blue water, but not from that show. we've all got a good sbd. but march 93 blue water's are my favorite.

big league chew is the definition of "flavor of the week-best show ever!", shit it even has a nickname.

8/19/93 could use an upgrade. You can get your Blue Water there. Though while everyone busts their nut about Haynes on that Blue Water, I actually think he kicks more ass on the Nancies.

YES. it's such a strange set too, extended nature, christmas song encore in the middle of the summer, BOWA set closer, etc.

batleon

Yeah I was listening to the show just earlier this week and I forgot how good it was. Show was rocking before Haynes even joined them on the stage. Sound isn't as good as other sources from the time, so an upgrade would be welcome.

Back to this show though. I love the old school Watchtowers like this one.

It is highly underrated

I can understand the argument that 3.23.93 is overrated because I think there are many better 93 shows, but it's not "flavor of the week best show ever"...I mean it happened 16 years ago.

I wouldn't want to see it released before other shows just because the source we have is already good and there are better shows from that year.

Still the best dmblive release so far. I love the 3/26/94, and that's a close second, but man this 4/26 is just so great.

yeah i listen to it quite a bit. i love how much crowd there is in the mix. i complained a lot about carter being mixed low, but besides that it might be my favorite mix out of the dmblive's.

05-18-2010, 11:14 PM
I agree. I'm always knit-picking when it comes to crowd noise in mixes so this is a favorite of mine. I get used to Carter about 3 or 4 songs in. Still wish he was mic'd in better for that show but whatever, still great performances.

boyd's work on tripping billies is an old school skreefest.

Bluewater34

Just started this one, and yeah, Carter being basically just picked up by the open mics is definitely initially off-putting. Going to have to get used to that. Nice Recently, though.

Bluewater34
01-27-2015, 06:05 PM
Finished it, and it's another great choice. The second set is the gem here, with Two Step, Ants, Rhyme and Minarets really standing out. I thought that the Jane on here was pretty exceptional too, with Boyd and Carter really playing the hell out of the intro.

Bluewater34

So I pulled this one out again today, and while I liked it the first time, I do finally understand why I was seeing people rank this among the best DMBLive releases. There's a real crackling energy to this show, and that Rhyme is one of the best on record. I've said this before, but those early '94 shows are the absolute best Boyd has ever sounded in my opinion.
