Still seems ridiculous to me. Maybe there will be more people than at Chiefs games? :lol

I would hope so.

I'm torn between this and Bethel Woods for monetary reasons....and I think Syracuse loses....pretty much because they misused Sal Fasano when he played for the Chiefs. :lol

Syracuse is about 4 hours from me and I could theoretically stay at a friend's house about half an hour away, but I refuse to go out of principle. Syracuse is such a shithole that even my favorite band can't drag me up there.

:lol It ain't a top 10 in America city, but it isn't that bad. You in NY?

Requested reserves. Should be fun. First venue other than SPAC for me.

If I do a 3rd show this summer, it's either this or Bethel, I think.

I took Bethel. It's closer to my house than Syracuse, and I just don't want to deal with another stadium show. That said, maybe I'll grow a set and go to both....but for now, Syracuse loses. :nod

Venue Information:
Home of the Syracuse Chiefs... Enjoy America's favorite pastime in total comfort at one of the finest AAA ballparks in the country. Alliance Bank Stadium, with 11,117 seats, is the home of the Washington National affiliated Syracuse Chiefs of the International League.

The full service Hank Sauer Room restaurant (available to groups by reservation only) is an ideal setting for sports themed affairs and game night dinners, with patio and picnic areas also available for birthday parties and corporate parties during Chief games.

The new grass field, ample parking, affordable tickets, great sports merchandise shops and the chance to see up close the major league stars of tomorrow make the Alliance Bank Stadium experience a must on everyone's summer schedule.

from Ballparkreviews.com:

Alliance Bank Stadium is home of the now Syracuse Skychiefs (formerly just Chiefs). It replaces one of the finest old ballparks in the country - MacArthur Stadium. Alliance Bank Stadium was built right next door, and now a parking lot is where the old park used to be. For anyone that ever attended a game at the MacArthur it's a sad sight. The new stadium is almost identical to Harbor Park in Norfolk, except for the artificial turf which it unfortunately has. Also, the backdrop is not nearly as nice here. The stadium is double decked and is made up entirely of individual fold down seats. Tickets prices are very reasonably priced, cheaper than some A-League teams. The concourse area is directly below the upper deck, and is is full view of the playing field just as in Norfolk. This is where all the plentiful concession and souvenir stands are located. A restaurant is housed in a building far down the right field line. The backdrop is not much to speak of - just trees. There is a railroad track that runs behind the stadium as well, but the trees block the view of the trains unfortunately. There were a couple of on-field contests, and many lucky number giveaways throughout the night. A mascot, Scooch was also on hand to entertain the kids. I have no idea what he is supposed to be, though. In summary, a fine new facility, but one I would rank a lot higher if it had grass. Fortunately, real grass was installed in 2008, which means I should try to make a return visit in the near future.

Post show @ Dinosaur BBQ ?

the only thing that sucks about where this show is taking place is that there is nothing else around it. No bars or restaurants, etc...

Ruby Tuesday isn't my idea of a good pre-show spot. I wonder if they will be allowing tailgating in the stadium lot?

and with dino you will be lucky to park and get in on a regular night let alone if its a planned stop for people

Yeah, I mean at least it is the middle of the week and not like a saturday. There is always the pay lot across the street.

why would they bus people in?

why would they bus people in?

The stadium's conveniences - bathrooms and concessions - are not built to handle a crowd of 20,000-plus. So the staff will have to rent port-a-johns, and maybe set up some temporary vending sites.

The stadium has only 3,500 parking spaces.

From the Syracuse Crunch beat writer, when discussing the potential of a 2009 Outdoor Hockey Game at Alliance Bank Stadium.

hmmm i would have guessed more but then again it was built to handle 12k people not the expected 19 or so
if thats the case people will park at the mall and/or the mall will use its "off site" lots that already have buses i am sure - its a 2 minute ride

The sets they're play now... this could be a huge show. Not a commercial venue, anything could happen. I'm getting excited.

Or they could be like all other NY shows not at SPAC.

But here's to hoping they are good, because then maybe some of that goodness will spill over to VA Beach.
