Venue Information:
Hersheypark Stadium is the most prominent outdoor stadium between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, hosting such events as the annual Summer Concert Series, PIAA Football and Soccer Championships, and the BIG 33 Football Classic. With the addition of a state-of-the-art synthetic grass system, Hersheypark Stadium continues to shine as the venue for athletic events, holding nearly 16,000 in the stands. Overall, Hersheypark Stadium can hold 30,000 fans for concerts. In past years, the Stadium has hosted musical acts such as the Dave Matthews Band, Alabama, U2, James Taylor, and The Who.

Hersheypark Stadium, as with so many of Mr. Hershey's projects, was built as much for today as for the time when it was built. Through the years the Stadium has served as the summer home of the Philadelphia Eagles as well as the site of rodeos, athletic and music competitions, concerts, pageants, and racing events. In 1953, the Stadium and Hersheypark Arena were the sites of a huge birthday gala in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Hersheypark Stadium ranked #1 in North America as the top grossing venue for the *NSYNC & Pink show on July 30, 2000 (venues with seats 40,000 or less).

I figured real names would work well (my girlfriend still busts me for Scranton in 2006 when Jeff and Elliot called me "theme".....I just can't live it down, :lol).

If we're in that area, and have cell #'s, and know what cars to look for, it should work well.

Or....maybe I'll just be the guy flying the Ants flag and playing the studio version of Crash on repeat for 6 hours.

There's plenty of time to work this stuff out, haha, it's all good.

I live 15 minutes down the street (almost literally) from Hershey. My first show at Hershey was just last year (though I worked at the park during every show except for 2003 from 2001-2006).

I'm really looking forward to going again here. I like the spread PA has as well. Last year I went to May 30 in Pittsburgh, June 10 in Scranton, and June 27 in Hershey. This year is way better, with Pittsburgh in June, Hershey in July, and Scranton/Camden in September.

Right by/in the park?

They have a restaurant called the Tudor Grille right outside the main gate, which is pricy (as expected) but really good. I try to eat there if I don't want to venture out of the tailgate area once I've parked. However, this year I'll almost certainly be grilling.

You're either talking about Hotel Road or Sand Beach Road.

I don't think they want traffic going through Hotel Road because that takes you to the Hotel Hershey. So you'd want to get on to Sand Beach Road, which is at the intersection of Hersheypark Drive where the Wendy's is.

I am entirely unsure of the name of the road but it is a dirt road that turns paved around what I think is the Hershey Gardens.

Yeah, that's Hotel Road. It connects to Sand Beach, which takes you up to 22.

Hotel Road used to be in a different spot; when Milton Hershey expanded old Senior Hall, they had to move the road to where it is now, across the street from the main exit of Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, and the Giant Center. In 2006, it was entirely a dirt road that connected to Sand Beach; now it's paved and provides better access to the school, the hotel, and the gardens. But I'm pretty sure that in order for the expansion of the school to happen, they had to move Hotel Road to where it is, and restrict the amount of traffic on it.

They're forcing you onto Hersheypark Drive, either to head to Sand Beach Road, Laudermilch Road (where Hesheypark Drive used to end), or to 322/422.

Hershey may not be the best venue. And the audience might have sucked in the 2008 show.

But the stuff Dave was saying last year made that show hilarious (plus the way he danced). It's all worth it. Too bad they got rid of the laser show, too, right?

And the audience might have sucked in the 2008 show.

I turned around during the horrible ODH opener with flashbacks of 05 dancing in my head and ten seats back dead center people flipped out like it was Minarets. While I freaked out during Typical, people were doing bathroom runs.

For the record that encore last year still blows my mind. When Carter started hitting that snare already past curfew and after the best Two Step of 08 I seriously almost shit myself.

I always go to Hershey to buy my tickets. I never get any Hershey tickets via Ticketmaster.

I've waited in line in the early morning for DMB, Neil Young, The Who, Phil Lesh, and others. The day I was waiting for The Who was back in 2002, and a Britney Spears concert was going on sale an hour and a half after The Who, so that was a bizarre mix.

The used to have us buy tickets at the box office of the stadium; they've been doing it at the Giant Center since the year after it opened, I think. Maybe 2003?

Theme, you must be a tailgating master.

I'm just really OCD about making sure I have everything. I love lighting shit on fire, too....so that's a plus. And the beer, oh, the beer!

it's officially today! :banana

need to sleep soon. it's amazing that driving can take so much out of you. you're sitting for hours, listening to music and slightly moving a wheel around, yet it makes you physically and mentally exhausted.
