i wonder if Spotlight will be track 0?

this was supposed to be the second live release ever by DMB... L@LC eventually took its place i think. from what i remember they were going to have Spolight as a secret track 0 or something like that.

I see you edited your post just now but...

Hollywood Swinging by Kool & The Gang.

It was also sampled on Let Me Clear My Throat by DJ Kool which is where I remembered it from.

overly cheesed out cheap sounding keyboards with tim reynolds like space effects that brought major :lol z i'm admittedly not a fan of keys being anywhere near the bands sound, but at least butch had a semi-normal sound.

I don't like much of what Greiser did.

Despite being unhappy with this release for other reasons, to reject a show based on his contributions is a mistake and a missed opportunity to hear some songs that, if nothing else, showcase a much different sound in a time now when we seemingly hear the same thing over and over.

Peter did a lot of things that are maybe "questionable" but if you're not going to at least check this out, youll be ignoring a really cool time in the band's history and you'll never hear one of the finest Makers ever (IMO) among other treats.

This is one of the first tapes I ever received in a trade and I have great memories of being giddy listening to a band that was so young and fresh.

You saying anything he touched must be shit tells me you either haven't heard enough, you haven't really listened, or you were just exaggerating.

Listen to that Maker and tell me he's terrible on it. Your post was just kind of ignorant, and this is coming from someone who's not a Greiser fan. Then again, it doesn't really matter and I don't really care that much. Carry on.

Sure, but I doubt we will see many, if any, DMBLive releases that sound as good as LT releases. These are basically just the straight boards and don't get the same treatment the mix on the LTs do.

they crank the crowd up during the chorus of a few songs to make it seem like the crowd is going off when they actually weren't. and piedmont ants has a weird edit in the intro.

I forget what release(s) it's on - I think Live Trax 3 was one - but when Dave introduces Busted Stuff it sounds totally pasted in - I've always wondered if he said "She My Bitch" and they covered it up. Anyone know if that's the case?

Yeah, that does sound weird. I THINK, though, that he was calling it "Busted Stuff" instead of "She My Bitch" by that point in 2000, but I can't really remember. I'm gonna check it out and report back.

EDIT: Just checked the audience recording, and he does indeed call it "Busted Stuff" exactly like it is on the LT version. Still does sound weird, though.

This made me lolz. As did his solo that begins the Two Step outro. Just bad.

However, his SMTS harmonica play is rather nasty.

Agreed. Big time. This Warehouse sounds young and full of promise.

Man, everyone is touching on what I was gonna write about. Boyd was brutally bad on Seek Up intro. Carter seemed to go out of his way to hammer home the pace of the song. It's like Boyd was checking out some lady or something and completely not in the moment with the band. And Jimi was a refreshing change of pace.

Also weird to hear people pining for the band to play Me and Julio. And to hear Dave reference "Northern Exposure." How great would it be if Dave referenced Lost at a show nowadays?

Listening to this one for the first time, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. It's been so long since I've listened to a Greisar-era show that I'd forgotten that although he gets irritating in places, the band was playing really well by this point. I still won't be reaching for this one all that often, but I'm glad to have it in the collection. I liked Jimi a lot, and had forgotten how much I love SMTS with the harmonica. The Dave solo mini-set is nice too.

By the way, was The Flood Zone in a cave or something? I've never heard echo like this on a show.
