Is parking available at Bader Field?

Parking at Bader Field is restricted to pass holders and disabled parking only. Please do not drive to Bader Field without the correct credentials. Vehicle traffic will be restricted across the US322 Bridge on Albany Avenue.

Festival patrons will find many parking lots in Atlantic City in hotels, casinos and public lots. There will be shuttle services available to and from remote lots and other designated locations in the area. Information on these shuttle services will be posted when they become available. Taxis and limousines will be able to drop off and pick up passengers at locations in close proximity to Bader Field.

Are laser pointers allowed? :lol

No.

Where is everyone staying? I found a few places with Google maps less then a mile away (walking distance)...like the Passport Inn, The Flamingo Motor Inn...I know people have said this area is bad, but with this sized festival coming security will be everywhere...

Looking for suggestions on where to stay and where all my DMB ppl r staying...

I got a room at the Comfort Inn and Suites through the Warehouse $316 total for Thursday-Sunday. Its about 4 miles from the venue, so not really walking distance, but I think it will work out fine.

I know some ppl shit on it, but holy hell am I glad I'm staying at the Passport Inn, its a stones throw from the field...I'm in PRIME spot to sell shit, I really should stock up on water and stuff, maybe make some T shirts...it's THE closest hotel to Bader.

I'll be staying a few miles outside of AC, driving in and parking at a casino and taking their shuttle. Hoping that works out.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Whats your plan for throughout the day? are you planning on driving in for the day/night and just go back to your car to recharge or drink, eat, etc ?

I'm at the Passport Inn which is just over the Albany Ave bridge...if anyone has any interest in meeting, we could hang in my hotel room before DMB one of the nights. PM me if you like to party and have any interest we can exchange info.

You won't.

3 nights of DMB, a Dave & Tim show and special sets by Fonz and Carter, never mind TR3 is playing along with Coffins band, plus some pretty awesome other acts. A good time is guaranteed.

The shows themselves will probably be pretty good. But for me personally, I'm worried about the money I've spent and will spend, time off from work, the drive, transportation around AC, the logistics of the venue, and that the person I was going with is probably bailing and I'll end up going by myself and eating the extra 3 day pass.

I am just down the road from you at the Comfort Inn and Suites. From what I am hearing most that road will be closed down, so I am planning on getting a taxi to the point of the road closure and walking the rest of the way. I am sure there will be taxis around after to get back.

I emailed the hotel (Ramada) about shuttles and received the following response:

The DMB Caravan is running/operating the shuttle to and from the hotel to the concert venue. We are not aware of the schedule at this time. But we should have sometime early next week a schedule.

So, at the very least, there will be a shuttle to and from the Ramada Atlantic City West. That simplifies my weekend greatly since I will most likely be traveling alone.

Maybe the DMB shuttle is just hitting up all of the hotels in that area (Black Horse Pike)? Or maybe they're stopping at all the hotels listed on the DMB Caravan website? Either way, hooray for us. Our chance of survival just increased about 30%.

I don't think it's walking distance to bader? I thought it was about 10 miles out in Absecon? I couldn't book 2 queens, just 2 doubles. It was beaucoup expensive, but that's what I get for doing all my shit last minute. I'm hoping they have a shuttle though

oh snap, well apparently there is a few different Passport Inns. I am staying at the Passport Inn in Atlantic City see here under a different name: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&gl=us&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1400&bih=896&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=el+rancho+atlantic+city+nj&fb=1&gl=us&hq=el+rancho&hnear=0x89c0dd576e5cc721:0x4a6fcb43e9675262,Atlantic+City,+N J&cid=0,0,16309513407437921269&ei=E0_5Tdn4E4Tc0QHs8KixAw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBoQnwIwAA

not sure if they still have rooms left but i talked to the girl tonight, they allow tailgating and grilling and are 2 blocks from Bader, she said it is the only hotel within true walking distance. I paid $460 for Friday 1pm to Monday 11am...she said you MUST arrive before 5pm on Friday cause they are closing the Albany Ave bridge...

Why deal with a shuttle when you don't have to? ppl on this board like to shit all over everything, but if there is ANY weekend this summer when crime around AC will be the lowest it will be this weekend, so staying outside of the casino area or right next to Bader will be FINE, better than fine cause we can laugh at all the ppl making their 3 mile walks over the bridge...

Friday: The Mu'tet, Delta Spirit, Mariachi El Bronx, The Head and The Heart, Ray, Flaming Lips, DMB

Saturday: Dave and Tim, Guster, Marley, Warren, DMB

Sunday: Alberta Cross, Dawes (favorite new band), Amos Lee, Grace or David Gray, DMB

The only reason you should regret posting those pics of your piece of shit car, is because now we "know" you actually drive it. I would never do anything to damage that car. Driving it is embarrassment enough.

Just to clarify some things I've seen posted in this thread:

The Flamingo is a sleazy hotel, in years past it has been used as a front for illegal activity. (robbery/commercial sex trade/drug trade) I would not recomend staying there although it is located on the southern end of the city, close to Bader Field. (near the Hilton and Tropicana for reference)

The Passort in Absecon is not within walking distance to the venue. It is located on the White Horse Pike which does not have sidewalks or a speed limit that is usually obeyed. Absecon is close to the North end of Atlantic City.
Most of the "hotels" on the White and Black Horse Pikes are used as semi-permanant housing for the disabled and those collecting welfare. Some of you may remember a string of murders in 2006 that took place at run down hotels in West Atlantic City. Those are the hotels on the Black Horse Pike.
Again, I am offering help to any TDC'ers that get in a bind. Although I don't post regularly, I have always enjoyed this community and have found it to be the only dmb board worth reading.

In closing, despite being slightly effeminante, Miatas are fun to drive and will deftly out-handle many high end performance vehicles.
Cheers!

Well, I hope my hotel on Black Horse Pike works out ok. It is rated the #1 hotel in Pleasantville on tripadvisor.com, so it can't be that bad. Plus it was one of the hotels offered up on the caravan website. I am sure they wouldn't put it up ther eif it was so low quality.

That's it, Sir.
06-21-2011, 07:15 PM
I don't want to scare anyone but I do want people to be informed and to be safe. Both Pleasantville and Atlantic City have high crime rates and more sleezy assholes will be trolling around this festivle than I care to imagine. Most events are here are held in doors so this will be like shooting fish in a barrel for the underworld of AC. I would imagine that the city will see a drastic rise in street level drug sales, violence and prostituion. AC cops are hard asses, so if you're going to "party" be careful. The part of town the concert is being held in is largely hispanic, don't walk around Texas and Florida Aves between Atlantic and Pacific Aves. Use taxis. Of course I view the city the way I do because I work with homeless youth, at the county jail and with victims of the commercial sex trade. I guess just be aware is all I'm saying.

The Passport near Albany Ave is not in a bad neighborhood. It is a low end motel but will likely be filled with dmb fans so I'm sure you know what to expect. It is near a major thoroughfare and is very close to the venue. There will be plenty of concert goers on foot and a large police presence.

You should be ok there as well. It is one of the better places in that area and I understand that the Caravan will be running a shuttle to the venue. Here is a list of places to look out for:

The Golden Key
The Hi Ho
The Travel Lodge
The Sea Breeze
The Economy Inn

Pretty much anything on the same side of the road as the concert venue. (west side of the Black Horse Pike)

You're smack dab in the middle of a questionable area. :lol Head stragiht to the boardwalk and turn right. I would suggest that you use that as your route of travel or that you call a cab. If you're feeling adventerous, you can walk down to Pacific Ave and take the Number 1 or 2 Jitney(little green and white buses driven by crazy arabs hepped up on red bull) towards the Hilton.(south) If you're with a group of friends you should be ok but if you're taveling with your wife/girlfriend use caution at night. The Jitney will drop you off in front of the casino, contine south on Pacific Ave to Albany Ave and make a right, this will take you straight to the festivle. New York Ave is home to two strip clubs and a 7-11. There are usually fights at Babes (one of the clubs on NY Ave) and many pan-handlers and crazy homeless people hanging out a 7-11 so be careful walking around there. Good luck. I'll PM you my number in case you run in to trouble.

I'm staying in Wildwood Crest....planning on driving to park at the AC Hilton and walk over the bridge. Thoughts?
Wow! That is really far away. It's about a 50 + minute trip without traffic. You're going to hit traffic for hours heading south Friday because all of the coastal vacation towns. Weekly rentals in shore towns usually turn over during the week end so you WILL hit traffic coming and going but you can expect HEAVY traffic heading north on Sunday. Wildwood Crest is the southermost point of Wildwood and is about six miles from the very bottom of New Jersey. Leave yourself a lot of extra time to travel. Take the Garden State Parkway to exit 38 (do not take exit 38 A, it will take you to Philadelphia) and follow the expressway straight in to Atlantic City. Follow that main entrance to Pacific Ave and make a right. Once you pass Tropicana, start to look for signs for the Hilton's Parking garage, it will be about 4 blocks south. There are many small private lots on Pacific Ave that may offer cheaper parking but would likely be less secure. ACPD will tow if you park somewhere questionable.

How's the Ramada Inn Atlantic City West? Too late to change my reservations, but at least I can show up in a Kevlar vest if needed.

That's it, Sir.

:lmao You'll be fine, maybe bring it just in case...

I wrote this up for another member, but figure I should post it here for those staying in West Atlantic City.

The area you're staying in(West Atlantic City) is actually part of Egg Harbor Township. For years, this area has been neglected by law enforcement because of it's odd geographical placement, it is not connected to the Twp it belongs to in any significant way. West Atlantic City lies between Plesantville and Atlantic City but is policed by Egg Harbor Twp cops. EHTPD primarily uses the area as a speed trap and does little to nothing about the crime that occurs in the "hotels" on the Pike. These hotels are used as semi-permanant housing for the disabled and those hovering around the poverty line, it is not uncommon to see school buses picking up children. The hotels also serve as a breeding ground for various types of crime including sex trafficking, prostitution, drug trafficking, welfare fraud and violent crimes/murder/robbery. Within the last two years, the township has began to develop the area. A large development of Condos were built in an effort to raise property values but the area is still largely depressed. Pleasantville borders West Atlantic City on the mainland and is an impovrished town(lower sales tax, etc.) and is the scene of many violent crimes. Stick to the tourist areas and you should be ok. I hope this makes sense, I wrote it between calls/emails at work. If you get in trouble drop me a line.

My outlook of this weekend just soured a bit. Well, it says there's a Denny's next door. Maybe I'll just sleep there.

I still have no freakin' idea how to get from the Ramada to Bader Field. Their DMB Caravan website is useless.
