MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE TO INCLUDE WAREHOUSE 5/8 CD AND LIVE TRAX VOL. 20!

The Warehouse is preparing for the mailing of the annual membership package and expects to begin mailing the packages soon. All members that joined or renewed in 2010 will receive the package. Please note that the 2011 package will be developed later this year and will ship in early 2012 to all members that join or renew this calendar year.

This year, we're planning something extra special. To celebrate the band's 20 years of performing together, we've selected a particularly prized show from the archive for DMB's 20th Live Trax. In addition to the Warehouse 5/8 CD this year, all members eligible for the 2010 package will receive a copy of the 2-CD Live Trax set in their membership packages.

Live Trax Volume 20: 8.19.93 Wetlands Preserve, New York, NY is the earliest show in the Live Trax series that we've been able to mix from multi-track. The historic, now defunct Wetlands Preserve has a neat history rooted in philanthropy and is one of the first NYC venues that DMB played. Highlights include a great run of songs, Dancing Nancies>Typical Situation>Blue Water on the setlist featuring longtime friend, Warren Haynes. Blue Water features Boyd and Warren weaving licks together with violin and slide. Best of What's Around as a closer is pretty rare and all in all, we just really love this high energy show from the early days.

Well, at least the package comes with something I can sell to get most of my membership money back. Not that excited about a 93 show as a live trax honestly but it's "free" so whatever. Nice looking Warehouse disc.

No you didn't. That doesn't even make sense. How are they going to ship a package in march to someone who doesn't even join until December? It might be a little annoying that they wait until March 2011 to ship out the 2010 package, but they aren't "behind" anything.

The '08 one isn't representative of the song as a whole, but it's really good.

Excited for LT20 just solely for that Blue Water! By FAR my favorite Blue Water of all-time!

The WH disc is bizarre. #40 shouldn't count as its own track (but it's a nice unique version of the song). Would have preferred ADSR from 2007 with Roi/Dave solos (but I still like this one). That LITHOG is useless (and I think a repeat release). Christmas Song is useless Dave solo. Write a Song, YNK, #34 are all thumbs up.

Yeah, I guess so. 2:30 is as long as any #40 besides that Yoshi's one I guess. And this one's full band, so that's good. Definitely happy to have it, but combined with Christmas Song, it just seems like one more full-band full song would have been nice. But whatever, quality over quantity.

What's great about this Warehouse disc is it's not just the songs, but you could at least argue that they picked the right dates for 6 of them. The other you can at least say that it's Hands of God's debut and we don't have any 2007 YNKs. This disc was clearly not done at random like it seems last year's was. There was definite effort put into it. Plus two songs being released for the first time.

This 40 is awesome. Maybe an 01 Dave solo is better, but this version especially full band and as full a version as its ever going to get is awesome. Even the full band 95s were more mumbling. The 34 is great because it was a big moment. Maybe it's not the best, but it's not like any of the other versions are that much better. This was the ultimate DMB bust out and a great pick. Maybe Dream So Real is a personal thing, but for me it's by far my favorite. I love the Tim solo a whole lot more than the Ross solo. Nothing even comes close to this one for me.

My only complaint with the WH disc is LITHOG not being from '10 and the unnecessary Christmas Song - but easily the best WH disc we've seen in a WHILE. Love that we are getting Write A Song and A Dream So Real, and that #40. YNK is always welcomed, as is Kit Kat Jam.

And that #34... just great :upyours

Dave must not be comfortable playing it on the piano and/or playing it and singing it. That was the only time he played it (Butch did prior). Dave did SC it in Tampa later (7/9/08) which I caught from the lot so it wasn't like they forgot about it.

I've never been a fan of that song. It's probably due to them actually using it as an opener at a few shows I attended in '07. Talk about a bad way to get a crowd of 18,000 on their feet.

I think there was only one '08, the one we're getting.

Dave plays piano and Tim takes the guitar solo and instead of Carter starting the song, Dave does. That said, I much prefer the '07's.....but I'll take it!

for all of the complaining about the LITHOG choice... at least its LITHOG which is a great song in comparison to others in the catalog that have made their way onto these discs like WTWE, Angel, etc.

At least they picked some great songs across the board so that if someone has the actual CD they pop into their car for a drive its a good listen. I think that is a big step for this package

If I had to judge them solely on studio material, I'd give it to WSP fairly easily.

This is the first WH package that has gotten me excited in a pretty good while.

Solid WH 5/8 disc, but the real kicker is the Live Trax.

This show, on-the-whole, is outstanding...but the thing that excites me most is the Blue Water. This is my all-time favorite version of the song. It features Boyd doing what he USED to do well by completely shredding a jam (in tune with an actual melody) while Warren weaves in and out of it with him. To me, this isn't just the best version of the song, it's one of the best live moments I've ever heard from the band. Outstanding choice.

The only downer from the WH disc, IMO, is the choice of these particular versions of Lying in the Hands of God and #34.

I'd rather an earlier 34 with lyrics have been included and would rather a 2010 LITHOG with a more defined jam have been chosen.

Would I still rather have a version with lyrics, like 3/17/93? Yes.

Yea either people dont realize or they have a completely different opinion than me in that no return will ever be as special just by virtue of the fact that any return from here on out will not be from the original five. #34 at Mansfield will always be as good as it gets.

there is a website that lists them all, but I don't know what it is. Here are the threads there are here for the different ones:

Warehouse 8 Vol. 3 (2006 Warehouse Package) (http://www.thesedayscontinue.org/showthread.php?t=194624&highlight=warehouse)
Warehouse 8 Vol. 5 (2008 Warehouse Package) (http://www.thesedayscontinue.org/showthread.php?t=200760&highlight=warehouse)
Warehouse 8 Vol. 6 (2009 Warehouse Package) (http://www.thesedayscontinue.org/showthread.php?t=203302&highlight=warehouse)
Warehouse 8 Vol. 7 (2010 Warehouse Package) (http://www.thesedayscontinue.org/showthread.php?t=204700&highlight=warehouse)

It is not acceptable to ask for d/l links. There was a lot of confusion about it, but the wh has specifically said no. I think you can still trade/b&p for them as that was what the said originally. If you want to buy them, you can get all but the first few on ebay probably pretty inexpensively. or on other boards in the fs sections.

thanks for the tip. i wonder why it is so hard for them to mail one to everyone in the WH? are the logistics of sending one to all registered addresses that difficult? i belabor this because it seems from my boarding here that i'm certainly not the first person at TDC that has been missed. in fact, it seems to be none to infrequent.

It is my understanding that The Warehouse is a small group of people hand packing and labeling all the packages - mistakes are bound to happen.

Hope they get paid well.

the operation itself has to make a fortune since their biggest operation is mailing warehouse packages, (idk why they don't just integrate it with their normal distribution), and they bring in a stupid amount of revenue from membership fees that have almost no cost attached to them.

haha i dont care if this is 3 guys shipping this stuff, their problems are in their logistics, and since this isn't the 80's and we have these things called computers, i dont understand how difficult it is to pull up a roster of the current year's subscribers and print (or hand-write if its just 3 dudes and a garbage bag full of weed) packing labels.

harmonikfuzion
03-29-2011, 09:55 AM
and im pretty sure theres someone on the boards from the warehouse, and unless they literally run the warehouse, i mean no offense to them. whoever calls the shots at that place though doesn't seem to have much motivation for stitching up their logistics lol

Really like the davespeak before LITHOG, and while it may have been the first performance of the song, it is really good. The #40 full band is fantastic, really like the buildup carter goes into at the end of the song. Enjoyed the sax on YNK and #34, and Write a Song had a pretty sweet part by tim and an interesting story as to why they played it that night...

Cant wait for KKJ and ADSR to get out

I still don't see the point of releasing this LITHOG. Yeah, it's a first performence, and it sounds real solid with good Jeff/Carter rhythms, but there's no point.

This version sounds a lot closer to the studio version to me. I like Jeff on this more than some recent versions.. he seems to be playing more like Roi I think

here's the other side: I dont see the point when we have 3 (or 3?) other versions without the jam..they're all essentially the same. Luckily we'll get a 5-star jammed out one from the wrigley release

Def diff strokes for diff folks. My favorite released track ever is Spoon on the CP bonus disc just because I was there and my first time seeing it live. That being said, I am so ready for this WH disc, LT and Wrigley release. Haven't listened to much DMB lately.

The song has sentimental value to me, this performance specifically. Further, when I said single song, I meant out of the misc single tracks they've released, ala other Warehouse or bonus discs. How can an opinion be flat out wrong? This song is a treat for me.

speaking of the single greatest track ever put forth by the merchandising wing of the Dave Matthews Band, what are people's ideas as to what Dave is singing about? I realize it might be hard for us mortals to dissect, but why not give it a go. I've heard people think it is about Ashley, I have to disagree with that. Seems like he is singing about a childhood friend going through a rough patch. What say you?

I like the variety of this disc. Some really nice choices of songs we don't have many releases of. I can't wait to hear A Dream so Real and Kit Kat Jam also. The last two Warehouse discs or so were pretty lame, so this is kind of refreshing.

It's kind of weird that in the past decade #40 has only been completely played 3 times - 6/22/00, 6/12/01, and 6/21/08. It's a pretty rare song these days.

the song has always been such an emotional piece, I just think it kind of fits the struggling troubadour (haven't heard dave described as that lately) solo acoustic guitar vibe. Part of me even thinks the way the band comes in on this version is a little gimmicky. Obviously Yoshi's will probably always be the bar, but since it started to come back in 12/98, I like it just dave better (even without the little additions Carter has done a lot). This band has the habit of trying to give even little songs a 'big' sound, and imo this song is better left as is.

I agree with the last part. Just never felt #40 was one of those examples but It's certainly understandable to feel that way. Full band versions just make me think of '95 - I always loved those even if Dave was barely coherent.
