Best Blue Water of all-time. I've listened to it so many times and I'm very glad to get a LT version.

Also, isn't this the first 1993 show in the Live Trax series?

I think I'm just DMB'ed out...

There was never a SBD of this show? I thought there was.... but if all we have now is an AUD, then my bad...

Back in the day, all we had were sbd's of '92-'94 and I've listened to them all to death so I prefer 1995 and on DMB shows for LT release

Yea.. I wasn't pleased initially. I posted my reason(s) somewhere in this thread.

I didn't realize that we do not have a SBD of this show but regardless, I'd prefer to see LiveTrax as a series showcasing 1995 and forward.

After seeing the note about the multi track mix, I'm definately curious and looking forward to giving this show a listen.

This strikes me as being a more natural fit for the DMBLive series. I was also hoping for a 2002 show as Live Trax 20. That said, this show still looks great and I'm still going to buy it. I'm just surprised at the choice.

EDIT - Oh crap, it's free. Nevermind. :lol

I'd guess they will definitely cut the CF abort because they keep referring to Nancies > Typical > BWBF (which obviously didn't happen).

Also, part of me thought the encore was dave solo. Does anyone know for sure? Almanac does not have it listed as such.

Also everyone raves about this BW but this Nancies is also fantastic. And the set is hot even before Haynes comes out. If this is mixed properly this will easily be a favorite release for a lot of people I'm sure. They better mix the crowd in properly for this Satellite opener...

MaLaKaS

This show just plain and simply fucking rocks :upyours I agree that they have to mix in the crowd correctly because it adds to the this show especially. The band fed off the crowd energy on this night and I just hope that it is represented well on this release. We'll need authentic audience on this one...no dmblive "lack of crowd" mixing shit on this one.

The DMBLives don't have much crowd noise b/c they are more or less just cleaned up soundboards and not fully mixed and mastered like the LT's and in store releases. Crowd noise on releases walks a fine line for me. In so many ways I love hearing the crowd and it adds to the energy of the music, but it's important that they're not *too* loud and taking away from some of the touches of the music. For example, IIRC the crowd on Folsom is so jacked up in the mix that you can't even hear Dave on certain parts, like the JTR guitar intro.

Does anyone see a correlation between announcing this show around the same time that Warren Haynes was announced to be apart of the Atlantic City shows? Like promotion in a way? It is probably coincidental, but the thought did enter my mind.

I'm sure I'm in the extreme minority, but I get tired of these early releases. A few '93, '94, '95 stuff is enough for me.

I'm not saying I don't like those years, I just think a lot of the performances of most songs sound too much alike because they hadn't had much time to evolve. Also, Dave's nasally voice back then gets to me after a while.

More '97-'00, '02-'04, and (domestic) '08-'10 stuff, please. :)

Meh, I can see why people like the early shows, I just don't care for them too much for aforementioned reasons. I mean, I don't hate them or anything, I just find I get tired of them quickly, whereas almost anything from '98-'00 continuously gets a lot of listening time from me. I think I'm a sucker for the fuller/jazzier sound.

Nothing beats DMB '98/'00 IMO.

Honestly I find the late '93/early '94 stuff to be very interesting musically. You say the songs hadn't evolved much yet but that time period is when they were evolving so they're doing all kinds of interesting stuff with the songs that you don't hear in later versions. Go listen to a November '93 show, or the shows with Tim in December '93, or the Town Point Park release and tell me that's not good stuff.

I'm not saying it's not good, I think most of what they'd done pre-2005 is good, it's just not the sound I prefer from them. Like I'd mentioned, Dave's voice is also really distracting to me back then.

I'm not saying no one should like the old releases - I can see why people love them - I just don't care for them. I feel like most times, once you've heard one version of "X" tune from '93-'95 you pretty much have an idea of what all versions of "X" tune sounded like back then.

Additionally, I'm not a huge fan of Spotlight and BWBF, so some of these older releases don't appeal to me as much as they do others because I don't think some of DMB's early, now-defunct songs were all that good. Also, IMO, the early Halloweens all sound exactly the same (and Watchtower, Rhyme, Jimi, etc).

I'll take a beating for this, but I'm more interested in hearing another early JTR/SUAD/Grey Street than I am the two-chord wonder that is BWBF.

Are we basing songs on the amount of chords now?

You can write a beautiful song with just one or two, doesn't matter.

Also, all Halloweens the same in that period? The '92 show they released has one of the most passionate performances I've heard to date. Much more so than any one you hear these days.

If they released the whole month of August '95 I'd buy it. Anything that year, as a matter of fact. I'm not against releasing shows from '02 or '04 etc at all, but in no way does every song in '93-95 sound the same. If that's what you hear you need to go back and re-listen.

BUT those are your opinions and I suppose theyre valid in that sense. Just don't take a stab at Blue Water because it's two chords, that's silly.

My sister saw them in college back in 92 in Charlottesville. Her college softball team was playing in Virginia and they had a night off before they flew back home. So her and group of friends went and saw them at Trax. She had no idea who they were or why they went, just wanted something to do. She got a cassette tape, brought it back to me and figured and I would like them since she thought they were ok. I loved them from hearing that first tape.

She still has no idea how cool that was for her to see them then, and I'd give anything to have been in her shoes. Glad she went and helped me get hooked on these guys.

While I do agree that for me, my favorite time period of the band was the '98-'00 era, when things were much more jazzier, I also love the early stuff.

The one great thing about releasing shows from '98-'10 is that gives us a taste of a wider variety of songs from their catalog. Regardless of how great some of those songs are (or not), it's always nice to get a chance to hear them live.

The one problem with doing so is that many of those songs just aren't going to change very much over time. Sure, some have changed a little. But even many of those lack the unique interplay between members that were found in the early stuff (Seek Up, as somebody mentioned, being a great example).

If I want to experience more of a modern day DMB feel, or even highlights of their music, I'll put on something more recent. But on a nice day where I just want to chill out, close my eyes and listen and HEAR the music? It's going to be old DMB every time. Every time.

Some guy in a DMB FB group wrote the WH and got this reply:

The 2010 Warehouse Membership Package will be mailed in late May, 2011. We are in the final stages with the Live Trax 20 project, which has been added as a special thank you for members who joined or renewed despite the band not touring this year...The package will contain an 8 x 10 photo of the band, a 'Warehouse fan club only' CD release of five live songs (eight live songs for four or more year members), plus a third, "surprise" item which is not announced in advance

I'm still kind of surprised at how many people don't appreciate the old days of the band. I just don't get it. Didn't you all wear out your R2T and Recently CDs at some point? Listening to a show from that time period is like getting that vibe but even better in some ways.
Maybe many didn't get into them until after 01 or later? I don't get it either.

i might have to break down and finally get: DMB Backstage Theatre, Seattle, WA 11/26/94 to hold me over.

worth it?

Additionally, I'm not a huge fan of BWBF

I'm more interested in hearing another early JTR/SUAD/Grey Street than I am the two-chord wonder that is BWBF.

and, if anything, as far as switching up the way songs are played night to night that 1998-2007 period was their most stale.

Meh. The mp3s are I suppose. Some decent stuff but not a lot if repeat listens. Then again I haven't listened to DMB since shortly after it.came out.

Late May is going to be an overdose of new music. The people who ordered Wrigley Field will be getting their music. If they're Warehouse members they'll be getting the Packages to. End of May early June might not be so bad for some.

Good point. I'll be getting my Guyutica dvd/cd, i90 bonus disc, remastered 10/26/09, and Japan relief in may to ride me over. All for less than wrigley deluxe. And with free shipping to boot.

So if I was going to purchase a P.O. box this week. If I change my Warehouse address say this or next week, then my package would go to the P.O. box, right? I was just curious I guess as to when the cutoff usually is.

jmur

it depends on if the package has already been shipped or not...if it has then it would go to your old address..if it hasnt changed id say it would probably go to your new address.

you could always set-up a mail forward (temporary or permanent) through usps.com and set all mail for you to go to your new address (po box)...that way even if it was shipped to your old address it would get forwarded/delivered to your po box

We also need pre-FMs of the two FTAs he did during the breakup. Some good stuff in there like the Boise Bag, Hampton Halley's, and the Bozeman Tweezer.

Yeah the AC/DC Bag and Halley's are from stream rips broadcast through LivePhish.com on 12/20/07: http://1bigholiday.wordpress.com/2008/08/28/phish-from-the-archives-8-20-08-12-20-07/

I don't think so. Which leaves me a little sad as I don't think I can hit anything. I'm too old to be doing the blood and guts drive down to mansfield anymore. Tuesday shows in boston are a little frustrating.
