3 CD set from 9.12.2004 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. The show took place in the Polo Fields of Golden Gate Park and was a benefit concert for Bay Area Charities. From the moment the band hit the stage, the concert immediately became one of the highlights of Dave Matthews Band's career. Carlos Santana sits in as a special guest for several songs, including the recently written Sugar Will. The 3 disc set also features two additional previously unreleased songs, Joyride and Hello Again.

Just curious, why are we starting new threads on these again?

batleon

Only started new ones for threads we didn't already have. I know because a few months back I tried to top every LT thread and I couldn't find one for the first few.

Just curious, why are we starting new threads on these again?

because there are some of the live trax that have no official discussion threads (or threads at all). Most of the ones that were released prior to the ufck > tdc switch. Figured it makes sense to have a thread for each one. There are 4 left that don't have threads (4, 5, 6, 9). I'll probably make them at some point as well.

What about a Live Trax sub-forum like DMB Live?

What about a Live Trax sub-forum like DMB Live?

I was thinking about that, but part of me thinks it drives too much focus away from the main forum. Like good discussion doesn't happen on those shows because they are separate. I'll be honest, unless it is a new show I never really think to look at the dmb live threads.

I would agree with that.

Love the cover-art. Not a great show. Really enjoy the Santana sit-ins. Haven't listened to it in years but this is one of my favorite Watchtowers

I'm not much of a Santana fan, but I did enjoy his sit ins on this release. Great versions of all the 04 songs.

This is one of my most-listened-to shows. I put it on every month or so. Probably the only show I was at from that long ago that I still listen to regularly. Lots of great tracks on it because of the lost 2004 songs and the Santana tracks.

Agreed, one of my top 3 LT. This show never gets any love, but i enjoy listening to it all the time. Mostly people complain about the mix, but i like it that they have Dave's guitar turned up. What Santana does on Warehouse, Sugar Will and Watchtower is great. This show also has my fav version of Too Much. Dave seems to be "feeling good" during this show, lots of improv on the songs from this show. And not to mention great outro lyrics to The Stone.

I was at this show and enjoyed while I was there. Every time I listen to it I remember certain things going on around me and things I was doing. I can close my eyes and still see the two good looking asian chicks in front me. I can also see the taper about 15 feet to my right. I remember other small things about that day to. Great day and great show.

Bay Area charities? seems vague...was this show planned all summer or was just kinda put at the end?

I love this release. Love this BOWA. This is a perfect example along with a small number of others that prove DMB can and will play ba dass sets for huge shows/festivals.

I may be one of the few that prefer Sugar Will without Santana. I would have liked to hear Trey on it though to see what he would add.. wasn't he rumored to be on the studio version or am I confusing rumors

This one still ranks towards the bottom of LTs for me. The Santana stuff is good but most of it is meh and the mix is poor.

I'm all for more '04 releases though.

Not my favorite Live Trax release. The setlist is awesome, but I'm not a fan of the performances or the Santana guest spot. The mix stinks too. I'm still dying for another '04 release though, hopefully from earlier in the tour.

If not Hershey something from earlier in the tour since we already have releases from the middle and end of the tour.

Good Good Time is a must.

Though on a personal note I wouldn't mind 7/7 from that year at all, top 5 out of my attended shows and the tape is subpar for that time.

:nod a show with Good Good Time is definitely a must. And preferably one of the good ones (7/10/04, 6/27/04, etc.)

One of my fave shows I've attended, and one of my fave LTs. The only thing I definitely do like about the mix is how audible and crisp Dave's guitar sounds.

Oh yeah, and what a setlist, holy cow.

As do I, first band release where you can really hear what Dave plays and some of the unique riffs that usually get lost behind the other instruments.

Love this Live Trax. This setlist will blow your mind and I feel they have great performances to back up that setlist. Santana was very clean as usual. I don't feel like the mix is quite as bad as people make it out to be. When I think of bad mixes I think of LT 6.

Never liked the mix on this show and don't think it lived up to the hype from those who were there. Maybe it was a had to be there show...although I do wonder if a show doesn't translate that well to a release was it really that good?

For people who don't like the mix on this release, the aud recording is also badass. It's a shame that a great show like this one is often discredited due to the way it was mixed. Not a complaint at anyone, but rather it's a shame generally speaking.

9 year anniversary of this show, still one of my top 3 LT. Santana is awesome and the outro lyrics to The Stone are perfect. Dave is "really" into this show. And this has to be the best cover art for any LT

It is definitely an underrated show because of the mix on this release, I think it is still great to listen to a quality 04 performance. Highlights for me are the OSW opener, SMTS>ASTB?>Rapunzel, BOWA, The Stone, the Santana guest songs, and a solid 04 style Too Much.
