Venue Information:

Cruzan Amphitheatre is a 19,000-seat open-air music venue in West Palm Beach, Florida. The facility, owned by the South Florida Fairgrounds, is a modern amphitheatre used primarily for concerts and other performances. The backstage area is sometimes used for concerts that are general admission standing room only (mostly heavy metal concerts), while the amphitheater is used as the backstage area.

Since opening, the venue has gone through numerous name changes. It was initially named Coral Sky Amphitheater because the seats face into the west, often in view of a colorful sunset. It was Sony Blockbuster Coral Sky originally. After many years becoming familiar with that name, people still use that name despite the various sponsorships and name changes since then. The first sponsor was Mars Music (making the venue Mars Music Amphitheater), but when Mars filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2002, the Coral Sky name was returned. After a short return to the Coral Sky name, it changed again when Sound Advice became the new sponsor, and was renamed Sound Advice Amphitheatre. In early 2008, the venue was renamed again following a new sponsorship agreement with Cruzan Rum.

My wife and I will be spending our honeymoon on Singer Island the week of the show then ending it with DMB. I can't wait!

Assholes are "tightening" tailgate policies:

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/entertainment/fl-ppl-cruzan-tailgating-20120521,0,145027.story

Doesn't say what time gates will open....

ThememanXX

It's too damn hot to tailgate in South Florida anyway....

pribilfausch

Per that article:
"...informs patrons that tailgating will shut down 30 minutes after gates are open. 'Guests will be asked to enter the show or leave the parking lot,' the guidelines read."

Mmm yeah, they're trying to discourage people drinking their own (reasonably priced) booze before the show, likely to help the ten-dollar beer sales.:rolleyes

Fkyeah to Tower of Power opening, though. Definitely going to catch the whole opening set. Also, this may guarantee we may see DMB perform the album song(s) featuring Roger Smith (of TOP) as a guest.

Anybody else catching the TR3 shows after, at Roxy's?

I think I just might have to make my very first trip out to West Palm Beach for this year's shows. The band is on fire right now. Tower of Power opening is just icing on the cake. Guarantee you Carter will be side stage during their set checking them out and watching their drummer, David Garibaldi. I also see some horn guest spot potential for these shows.

I'm sure these shows will be awesome, hopefully as good as WPB 2010.

I can see this happening too. And David Garibaldi is a a fellow Yamaha artist as well.

Just looking at rates, the Hampton Inn and Suites in Wellington, FL is a good bet. http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/florida/hampton-inn-and-suites-wellington-WELFLHX/index.html

Also, 4 miles away from the venue lot, right down SR7, and the hotel is next to a mall and a ton of restaurants, etc: http://goo.gl/maps/qPGt

Just got my confirmation! I'll be there, and I snagged backstage from a buddy on the audio crew.

Now to decide if I should bring my big camera or not

:upyours That's where I'm checking in at on Saturday. She works for Hilton so we got a great employee rate.

Nice, my grandfather is the mayor of Royal Palm Beach (shares a border with Wellington AND West Palm (the Amphitheater is right on the border, actually)....I know the area really, really well.

Since you know the area really well I could use your help then. What are some really good places to eat around West Palm, mainly towards the Riviera Beach/Singer Island areas? We're looking for those unique local places and not your standard chain restaurants. I've been on a diet for awhile now just so I could indulge myself on vacation. :lol

Not really familiar with the areas north of WPB. Although, a little closer to the downtown area is a shopping area called 'Cityplace' that has a few good restaurants in it, as well as these:

and a little further away, closer to the venue:

Peppermint Thai and Sushi in Royal Palm Beach (google map it)
and, kind of a chain, but: http://www.shanesribshack.com/

Looks like I'll be going to these too, thanks to some fortuitous work travel. Now I just need to pull a good lower ticket in a last-second TM drop for night 2 (or wait for stubhub to bring some prices down).

Thanks man. Rocco's looks pretty good and has a great drink menu. We'll probably hit that up. And Shane's Rib Shack is good, we have one here.

Yeah, Rocco's is pretty sweet. Also, at CityPlace they have a greek joint (not sure on the name off the top of my head) and a brewpub with pretty good beers.

Alright I'm fairly sure I'll be able to get my camera in, trying to get 720p of at least a few songs.

Now the big question, do you guys want me to post the setlist before the show or not?

Wow they actually let you bring in a bottle of water. Shocking.
Cameras too, apparently. (or at least they should be less strict maybe?)

Doors open at 6, I'm gonna try to get in by 4. Soundcheck (if they have one) is around 4. I don't know if I'll be able to stick around by the time the show starts or if I'll get kicked back into the house, but either way I'm really excited.

Nah -- take a picture and then up it after the show. Even if you spoiler it, it could still get out on twitter and other places where people will see it accidentally.
