Underrated release. First disc is super solid, I even like Ladies-Everyday a lot.

It probably IS underrated. But only because most people possibly could not think less of this release.

When I was in a kid I liked it because Dave said a swear during Big Eyed Fish and I thought that was Cool.

This show is not underrated at all. A few great tracks and that's about it.

I've always thought JTR was the clear highlight. Even before the release I thought this was one of the great ones. For me:

1. JTR
2. Bartender
3. Don't Drink
4. Two Step
5. Warehouse

There are moments. It's '01 & sad to admit that the only highlights on this release are from '00 & before, but... So Right is good. DVD is nuts though. Not for epileptics. I watched this a year or so ago & was more impressed than I thought I'd be. Mostly with Boyd iirc.

my hatred for the Ladies is so intense that they ruin even JTR and Stay, a song they were actually supposed to be on.

There will be a moment on my deathbed when I discuss how my summer '00 was not what it should have been because of those skanks. I remember getting early word they would not be at Hartford '00 & high fiving randoms in the street. Hated those ladies beyond reason.

there's something about rock bands hiring chicks just to sing back up and like wave their fucking arms back and forth that rubs me the wrong way

I like So Right a lot. Just like those songs on here better.

I remember when I was young I watched the Police Synchronicity concert on Betamax like once a week. I thought their version of the Lovely Ladies sounded great then. I go back and listen to that concert on CD now and it's shit.

If they'd been backup singers and not bombastic 10-minute spotlight hogs I'd have no problem. They're fine on the songs they add highlights to, like Granny (even though I'll take a Ladies-less version over that any day) and, because they're intended to be - so they have a proper sectioned-role - Stay.

But when DMB justified their existence on the stage by throwing them on stuff like The Long Black Veil or Angel you entered a shithouse. And goddamn if they didn't nearly derail some great songs, such as The Best of What's Around and (ohmygodohmygodohmygod) Minarets with their caterwauling nonsense. Blessedly, I cannot remember how they stunk up Fool to Think or Busted Stuff.

Anyway, aside from the already mentioned meager offerings of Folsom Field, I'll add this Ants to the list of respectable cuts. Love the intro. I also enjoy this Space Between.

The mix fucking blows. But we all know this.

'01 would have been a subpar to ok tour if it hadn't been for them being on 6-8 songs a night.

:upyours they still had that somewhat old school vibe at this time that went away in 2005.

The other day, I listened to this show for the first time in YEARS and found it surprisingly enjoyable. I think the god-awful DVD sullied the release for me more than it should have.

Yeah. I don't remember who did the editing but I remember Fenton directed it and tried "spicing it up" with all those camera twists and cut-aways which felt so cheesy then and now...even the final editing with all the cut shots back and forth, you had no chance of even focusing on something for more than 2 seconds. So awful.

I really like this BEF, Bartender, Crash and especially WYA.

Plus how they changed up the beginning of Warehouse is pretty neat. Always surprises me when it comes up on shuffle.

I've always thought JTR was the clear highlight.

Yesir! They nailed it. Miss this song. Love So Right and Bartender as well. I still remember the shot of the sunset on the beginning of Bartender.

I've always picked LT3 or the Blue Water > JTR from the WH disc as my "go to" JTR.

This one is not bad though

:upyours for sure

I haven't listened to this one in years. The Ladies and general 2001 taint keep me away.

This DVD had only gotten a couple plays from me before I watched it last night. It came across as better than I recalled, but can be reviewed best perhaps this way:
THE GOOD
JTR - Solid if lesser due to the Ladies
When the World Ends - Standard 2001 version
Big Eyed Fish ->
Bartender - Perhaps the definitive version due to the unreal Bartender
Crash into Me - Solid
Everyday - Better with the Ladies than I thought it would be
Warehouse - Weird unique intro and all, a good enough performance
Recently -> Though truncated, the Some Do, Some Don't intro makes this quality solid
Digging a Ditch - Decent
All Along the Watchtower - Even with the cheesy Butch "guitar" effect solo, a good one
The Space Between - Pretty power balladishness and all
Stay - So standard energy filled
Two Step ->
Ants Marching - An interesting enough short Two Step with good Ants Marching
THE BAD
Don't Drink the Water - Boring opener
What You Are - Strained poor run through for the era
If I Had It All - Lifeless
THE UGLY
So Right - Dave just couldn't sing this one yet, ending isn't great
I Did It - Terrible
Angel - Don't get me started, I couldn't skip this embarrassment fast enough

Surprisingly for the worst release they have put out, it has aged well I think. I still hate the way it was shot, the editing, the audio mix and terrible effects.
I think the next play will be a long time from now.

One of the best versions of Crash and like you said, BEF :segue Bartender.

I like the ladies on JTR. Not on much else, but they seem quite appropriate for that tune.

DDTW was finally coming into its rockier form. I think its a decent one showing the transition

Wish recently would've been jammed out

as I've stated earlier in this thread, this show has a few great highlights, but not great overall.

Listening now for the first time in about 12 years. BEF is great. So Right is fun as was JTR. Angel might be a slog as it's 14 minutes!! if I remember correctly. I'm going back to all my official releases. Started with RR 95. Next up is Some Devil bonus CD, then CP!
