Venue Information (per the Almanac)
The Gorge Amphitheater is one of, if not the, most famous venues in dmb history. Aside from Trax and Floodzone, it is the most often visited venue by the band and has been sold out every show they've played.

It is located on the picturesque edge of a cliff overlooking the Columbia river gorge in the remote deserts of central Washington state. The majestic view is enough to take anyone's breath away let alone the experiences of camping with friends underneath a crystal clear view of the Milky Way's spiral arms as well as swimming in the refreshing Columbia river.

Nevertheless, impressive scenery and great camaraderie is not the only attraction for dmb fans to this venue. Shows in the past have consistently featured the rarest setlists of the tour and are performed with exceptional zeal and energy. So when the band decided to release their first box set, the choice was obvious.

All things considered, it is no surprise that the band's annual runs at the Gorge have become not only the best place to see both DMB and mother nature at their finest but also a mandatory pilgrimage for any enthusiastic dmb fan.

noticed a lot of chatter about this place, figured a thread wouldn't hurt, even if I'm not going.....

I really wanna get out there for DMB sometime but I can never justify the financial burden

every year I say "next year," but it's really just too big an expense. $500/ticket for a flight....then a rental car, lodging, tickets, etc. It's nuts to even think about.

Yeah, cant do it. Not from Michigan. Even still, I always over spend on my DMB stops every summer. Ive started leaving an extra $100 aside for my Deer Creek trip, knowing I'll probably have under-budgeted

Making my first trip out there this year. I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first (and probably last, due to expense and family commitments) time.

Yeah, that's definitely a nice bonus. A lot of extra music to justify the long trip.

I'm wondering where to camp this year. I haven't been the last few years but I loved camping at Vantage. I just got an email saying that the river is closed (wtf?) because the dam is broken. Any better places to camp. I've camped at wildhorse and the premier camping. Both were okayish but you're really packed in there.

I can't guarantee better, but I know of some primitive camping that is close. Very cheap as well. Send me a PM if that might interest you.

16 days till gorge, be there or be square

have two PIT tickets for friday night... not sure if i want to do pit though, especially if it is small / oversold. might try to trade them for seats.

I have not been to the gorge since 2004, going this year and wondering if there are any side screens, as we have seats all the over on the right side of section 201.

I just got an awful feeling that the special stuff they bring to the Gorge this year is going to be the 2001 Lunch Lady shit. Goddamn I hope I'm wrong. I honestly was positive that they'd cause Smooth Rider, DG, etc to come back so hopefully I'm wrong about this too
