There's no point speculating, it could be anything really. That being said, I'd like the following:

GGT
Crazy Easy (2013)
Hello Again (2010 or Roseland 2005)
Eh Hee with the Roots (alpine 07)
Belly Belly Nice (live, with no Boyd mute)
Broken Things
If Only (West Palm 12 or 13, with guests)
Last Stop (WPB '10)
Everyday w/Vusi (MSG '10)
If I Had it All (WPB '07)
Rooftop (December '12)
A Dream So Real ('07)
Fool To Think (extended, 6/23/12)
Sweet Up and Down ('10)
Water/Wine (7/29/08)
Lover Lay Down (8/29/08)
JTR ('13)
True Reflections (Mansfield '13)
So Right ('13 or Randall's '06)
Two Step and/or Minarets (8/7/03)
Seek Up and/or LIOG (12/16/02)

And, unlikely, but Buena, Sugar Man and Runnin Down a Dream would be nice.

You all have pretty optimistic choices. There's most likely going to be a sister, can't stop or something along those lines on it too. That being said here's my prediction:

The Stone (7/01/2010)
Kill The Preacher > Why I Am (any version)
Lover Lay Down (7/29/2013)
Ants Marching (9/20/2000)
Can't Stop (2010)
The Space Between (2013)

My famous last words before the '13 summer tour were "Finally, an album I want them to shove down my throat each night!" Logic is on your side, but logic disappeared 14 years ago with this band :lol

What I would like to see with a few rules to be consistent with past releases.

1.) Most songs need to be making their annual Warehouse disc debut. If a song is repeated, it's because it's been played in a different fashion or is unique (e.g. Typical from 2007, Recently with guests, Rapunzel with Gravedigger intro).

2.) Can be from a full show I want released. It's not like the fact that I want the show released would stop it from being on a disc.

3.) Disc must be under 80 minutes. Has to fit on one disc, logically.

* Fool To Think - June 23, 2012 - Klipsch Music Center (6:22)
* Everybody Wake Up (Our Finest Hour Arrives) - June 3, 2012 - Blossom Music Center (5:09)
* Crash Into Me - June 5, 1999 - GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheatre (5:45)
* The Last Stop - August 27, 1998 - Orlando Arena (13:26)
* Shotgun - September 23, 2006 - John Paul Jones Arena (10:26)
* Good Good Time - July 10, 2004 - Hersheypark Stadium (7:53)
* Hold Me Down - July 31, 1995 - Austin Music Hall (2:43)
* If Only - July 21, 2012 - Cruzon Amphitheatre (9:39)
* Spoon - June 22, 2013 - Klipsch Music Center (6:15)
* Drunken Soldier - August 30, 2013 - The Gorge Amphitheatre (11:04)

Just wondering, does Roger Smith add anything significantly different to that version as opposed to the one from 3 days earlier that's was released on DMB's youtube page?

I realize it's a song that'll never have vast changes from the band themselves, but still.

I've gotta say...if you're looking to bitch about this package, you're REALLY digging deep to find reason. Either that, or there isn't much left that will make you happy out of the band.

I like the nod to the longest members, even if it's something this simple (stub book). The disc is pretty stellar no matter how you cut it...and the two discs are just another way of recognizing those who have been with it the longest. And as someone else said earlier (can't remember if it was here or elsewhere), the earbuds won't likely be the best quality, but it's still kind of nice to get an extra set of earbuds out of the deal. It never hurts to have an extra sitting around to use if you need it.

I think you missed my point. I am not complaining about this package at all, in fact I think its the best in years. I was simply commenting that I don't understand why they bother making a WH7 and a WH10. Secondly, I was alluding to the fact WH seniority doesn't seem to matter much anymore ticketwise...

So, what...May for these things?

I think that's being generous.

EDIT: Maybe not. Looks like last year's was starting to ship mid-May. However, they announced it a week earlier.

Excited for Spoon w/Brandi, Rooftop, BBN, BW > Drunken Soldier (was at this show was solid performance)

Is there anything special about these 94 performances and LLD from 98?

A fine enough song, sure. But to see this version on so many short lists as a must release boggles my mind. I just played it and its really not that much different from any of the other GGTs later in that tour.

On another note, I got GGT in the encore for Atlanta in 04, so that was pretty cool.

They aren't really close for me in quality, but that says more about my <3 for BBN. For three minutes at a show where "bonding with deep lyrics" just doesn't matter because it's about shaking your ass, BBN gets it done for me every time. Don't think I've heard this version, don't think I need to to be excited to have a first SBD of this. I'm already grooving in my head thinking about listening to this in the car loud as shit with the sunroof open this spring. If the next Live Trax isn't a Fall 1998, I hope it's a baller 12 or 13 and even better if we get another one of these. It's encouraging to see Lover from 98 on here. Hopefully it's like a few years ago when Typical dropped then Say Goodbye hit WH disc from 1997, followed right behind with LT17. I don't think that timing was coincidence. I would bet all 3 were picked due to the same "management" listening digging session. Typical was impromptu due to Haiti, but the dates are all so close after zero 1997s. I'm hoping they'll drop one in the next 2 LTs.

Shake Me as an encore closer really depends on what else is in the encore. I saw it close Pittsburgh this past year and they could have ended on Recently. It was such a surprise there, a great version and we had such joy that Shake Me was like a bonus 3 minutes of happiness.

How are they going to dig into Fall '98 and not pick that Spoon? The one they picked is vastly overrated. Brandi Carlile's voice on it is borderline grating to me. Also wish they would have gone for a deeper cut instead of Belly Belly Nice (maybe Grey Street from 8/3/01?). But other than that pretty solid.

I love that Spoon although I think that version is much better suited for viewing rather than listening. The jam is pretty good - but it's much more entertaining to watch the video & see Brandi jumping up and down.

For WH disc purposes I'm happy to have this one but I'd MUCH rather have the Flecktones Spoon. (though I'm not sure how much that's saying because I'd rather have a Flecktones version of most songs)

How is anything in music "overrated?" Isn't it just a difference of opinion? It's not like a football game where opinions can actually be settled head to head and prove that rating is inflated. For music if a shit ton of people like something, it's fairly rated and if you don't, you're just divergent and it's fine either way.

Something can easily be underrated, like show not many people have heard, but there are like ten full band versions of the song. We've all mostly heard most of them including this one and the Crown one. You're just telling us we're wrong.

If that is the release, my only complaint (there has to be one, right) is that 2 of the 3 AFTW songs they played that night are also on this warehouse disc.

This was an easy top 5 show for me out of 101, that go back to 1998.

They release 4 older shows per year. I totally get that there seems to be a gap between 1996 and 1999 full band (been hit recently with D+T, at least), but you can't really lament the lack of older shows with DMBlive.

So to chime in:

This is a pretty good disc. It has a few things going for it:

- Healthy portion of unreleased AFTW songs (3 out of 10 songs, just enough)
- Digs Deeper (an '00 cut, a Fall '98 cut, and two '94 cuts)
- A couple of highly requested songs (the Hershey GGT and that Spoon)

For the bad though:
- The deep cuts don't exactly thrill me, why give us a song from one of those Greg Howard shows that doesn't feature him, and we already have an '00 Warehouse.
- I think they shot themselves in the foot going with the "Warehouse 10" format. How are we ever going to get a longer track on here? Say if they ever gave us the Soulive #41 (that I hope for every year) that's 20 minutes out of an 80 minute disc. They're gonna cram 9 other short songs on there? Why do they have to keep putting numbers on this thing, just make it "The Warehouse Disc (insert year)" and give us 70 to 80 minutes of music each year. Quality over Quantity DMB Camp :nono

It'd be nice to see some of those older shows get the full LT treatment though. Sure, I am happy with the DMBLive stuff, but seeing some more pre 2000 stuff get the full release mix and the like would be nice. Obviously this personal preference coming into play as I've just had enough of releases with this line up from the past 3 years...that being said I know some here think this is the band at its peak.

edit: and not that it is shocking (and not that I've see a lot of shows in the past 5 years), but I can't think of a show from this line up that is top 10 or 20 for me going back to 94.

I think I agree with all of this.

Obviously this personal preference coming into play as I've just had enough of releases with this line up from the past 3 years...that being said I know some here think this is the band at its peak.

Are there any releases from the past two years?

This is a serious question, sans the 2 D+T LT releases, what years have the last 5 or 6 been from?

Mersh
03-11-2014, 05:52 PM
Got my own answer 3 2010s, a 2003 and a 2006. That is better than I thought. Although that 2006 sucks and the 03 is questionable.

Live in AC was somewhere in there too, right? I feel like the past couple WH discs (pre this one) have been current line up heavy also.

Jack
03-11-2014, 06:22 PM
Pretty sure live in AC was out long before last December when those D&T live trax came out. And, if you look back to those (because, you know, they were released) they have been nostalgia heavy. Also, that first '10 was released solely for fans outside this country. The 2nd one was for us & also had a dvd & bonus disc. So, I have a hard time complaining. Frankly, I'm ready for some shows with aftw material.

Yea, I hear you. I'm obviously more in line with you as far as dmb preferences go, I just find it hard to fault them with what they've done for us recently. A lot of rarities tracks and a 96, 97 & '99 d&t show. I still find that hard to believe. I mean, would I love a summer 97 or 98 show over that 06? Or course, but that is unrealistic. Most fans like us aren't buying jack shit from dmb anymore. And most of the people still seeing shows have never even seen a show with just the original 5 members. We are a dying to dead breed.

Mersh
03-11-2014, 06:46 PM
I understand that and agree on the D+T LT releases. Although I do find it hard to believe that some crap random 06 show would sell any more or less than say a 97 or 98 like you mention at this point. Just get to the point where you want every last dollar like the Dead and release shows and boxed sets non-stop.

I once stayed overnight at a close friends house in high school. His parents called us upstairs for dinner and in the middle of the table was a plate for of SPAMburgers just like they show on the can of Spam. Yellow cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. So gross. I sat down and ate a little bit of the rest and refused (very politely) to eat the Spamburgers. I could tell they were a little off put by my resistance. Moving forward they never treated me the same.

One year when I was home from college I hung out with my friend at a bar and told him to tell his parents I said hello, to which he replied, "nah, they're not a big fan of you." These people loved me for nearly a decade. It was the SPAM incident that did me in. I personally believe it personified something larger, like socioeconomic status between our two families, but they definitely used it to justified their hatred.

I pretty much feel very similar to this. I am not in any way saying Hershey 04 is not an incredible show. I would be thrilled if it was released. I just feel like people put it on such a pedestal where I don't see it being that much of an outlier from the tour as a whole. But I probably would choose the 7.2 spac show from that year over Hershey.

I'm looking forward to hearing it because I really haven't gone back and listened to many GGT's since the tour. I caught four shows that summer, including both Hershey and Camden. I distinctly remember being fuckin blown away by GGT at Hershey, and being pretty underwhelmed at the other times I caught it that year. This is before it got totally ballwashed by the community...

Hopefully it lives up to my memory.

A lot of what made hershey one of the best I've seen doesn't come across on tape, so I'm always surprised by how much love it gets. No doubt a fantastic show/performance though. A good example was there was a laser light show going on in the park behind the stage most of the night, it was really cool... but only if you were there obviously haha

This is tough, because Jason is from PA so you want to say he's just a chocolate sucking homer, but on the other hand he's listened to every single show from that tour. I'll agree with you though, it's very rare to have one show cruise and kidman better than the rest for an entire tour. But, I know very little about 2004.
