All the acoustic stuff is probably a big hint that two sets this ear will once again be one acoustic and one electric.

I'm real happy to get that Nancies. Also excited for LYD, Baby Blue (first released version), Pay For What You Get, and Dive In.

I don't think I've heard that Say Goodbye but I do know that they were going crazy with the intro that summer.

That was my favorite Pay For from '14, so at least there's that.

Bummer that it doesn't seem like What Will Become of Me will be attached to Jimi.

Also, you're not interested in a Summer '98 Say Bye?

I posted one of the Popper tracks from 2.1.97 not long ago actually. The tape we have is listenable, but pretty damn awful. I'd have chosen one of the tracks with Popper (if possible legally or whatever) over Jimi... But just glad to get some new D&T

Any reason why?

It's high on my list of tunes that I want to see constantly getting released. The intro almost always has some different touches and you can hit the goldmine with Dave's lyrics/phrasing/delivery for obvious reasons.

Yeah I love it for the same reasons. Some versions are way better than other ones, but I can't recall hearing any performance of it in the 90's that I didn't enjoy

Just realized this is the one time they extended the outro to Nancies, which was pretty cool. I'm actually happy about this inclusion now. Also, Baby Blue has Carter/Tim and Rashawn on it. Did they contribute anything? Better than a solo version. Also, Dive In has the extended outro on this one which is nice. With Stefan playing with D&T, at least they picked noteworthy versions of this batch of songs. PFWY and Proudest Monkey are great versions too.

Also, this might be something I actually use: "The membership package will also include a Warehouse portable mobile phone charger."

That disc is random as fuck. Butterfly?! I suppose at least they're looking for stuff we don't have many versions of, as most of the songs on the main disc are pretty rare, but damn. Weird choices.

Agreed. It's nice to have a 2014 acoustic version released, but overall, I'd rather it never got played live again. Sadly with the acoustic set returning I bet it'll come back.

Yea, the D/T/S tracks are fantastic, but Butterfly, Stolen Away, & Baby Blue? All on one disc! Those type of tracks should never exceed 1/disc. And really, between Red Rocks & the Haiti disc, do we ever need another Butterfly? What's the point?

I think RR takes a little solo on Baby Blue if I'm remembering correctly?

This Nancies is one of my favorite 3.0 performances, it's good to see D&T songs getting some love, one of the best acoustic tunes from the last tour (Pay For), and Dive In with the reprise outro... I honestly like this disc, aside from the Stolen Away, Butterfly, and Proudest picks. :dunno

There is no point. They picked a mellow/acoustic theme and really ran with it. Trying to get people excited for the acoustic sets this summer?

Like someone else mentioned (mjf?) having 10 tracks can limit their options.

Tomacco
02-18-2015, 10:19 PM
WH discs are a good opportunity to release unique performances and unreleased live songs in general. They got half their bases covered at least, with Baby Blue (1st live release), Nancies (unique outro), LYD and Jimi (unique Stefan/Tim/Dave), PFWYG and Stolen Away (acoustic versions). But they've already released versions of Dive In with the extended outro (Across the Pond/Lucca), Butterfly (CWOTR), a late-90s Say Bye (WHv1) and several Proudest Monkeys. That's four slots that could have gone to stuff like Broken Things/Break For It (unreleased live), Snow Outside (acoustic/Bela), Hello Again/Joy Ride/Crazy Easy/JTR/SUAD (all unreleased from DMB 3.0 era), and countless other things.

The mellow theme doesn't entirely hold up with the most evil-sounding Nancies on there, unless they just kept the theme for the first 7 tracks.

Not the best recording, but you can see Carter and Rashawn adding to this. I'm glad we're getting this performance. Definitely the best Baby Blue to get (I know most people don't care but I like the song).

I'm relistening to the John Popper guest spot portion of 2/1/97 again, and just really wanna emphasis how awful this tape is. Eisenhower Hall has a no tripod rule IIRC, and boy does it show

This LYD is fantastic for an obvious reason- Stefan has a big role in the song and it shows. I'll need to hear the release to properly rank it, but this might be one of the best versions of the tour... And this song is one of my favorites to come from the '97 tour

Woulda wanted the WWYS with Popper more than Jimi but I'll take anything they'll gimme from this tour

There's some great stuff on this disc, but overall it's very lackluster. PFWYG, and the D+T tracks are awesome but that's it. 3 '14 tracks? We just had a 2014 show released and just came off that tour. This disc is for the hardcores right? I was expecting more older tunes.

last year had the Good Good Time we all wanted, 2 years ago had the Kill The King, 3 years ago had the Crazy Easy, and 4 years ago had a good Kit Kat Jam and the first Dream So Real release and the extended #40.

so maybe my expectations were a tad too high for at least one stand out track here. but i don't know what i was expecting because pretty much everything except the newer stuff (Baby Blue!) has found its way onto a release at some point now. which means it is time to dive into the vault and look for unique performances of songs that have already been released before. i would say they did a pretty good job of that here with the obvious exception of Butterfly. just don't get that one.

in hindsight i may have overreacted before. the disc isn't too bad. between this and a 2015 tour that right now sets up exactly like the 2014 tour which wasn't my favorite, and taking into account that i will probably get crappy seats through the warehouse like usual, and also we think there is a new album coming but who knows...what a time to be alive.

a couple good tracks on the disc but pretty meh overall. it will be good for a couple listens, but wont be memorable by any means. i really do wish they would let the wh members have some input into what makes the cut. not even the whole disc necessarily, but maybe 2 or 3 tracks that are most requested or voted on get put on there. without the members there would be no warehouse, so why not let us have some sort of say?

Agree. I don't get why fans think that artists owe them something. It's not like we bought his album or went to shows because we wanted to support him financially. It was for purely selfish reasons.

He created a product that people liked so people supported him. There should be no implied loyalty from either side.

I think that's true of a lot of people, but I became a huge fan in 2000, freshman year of HS. The LWS material on that tour was the first time music of any kind completely blew me away, and I probably traded for 80% of the 2000 and 2001 tours.

I know it's straight up nostalgia, but that's still the style of playing that I enjoy the most, and it's absolutely the least represented portion of the band's history in both live releases and bonus tracks. Even if they have a preference against DMB 2.0 in general, it's still irritating that 05-07 is so much better represented than 00-04.

DIVE IN -It's been said, we've already gotten an extended Dive In.
LET YOU DOWN (acoustic) - Already have a full band and I don't like D&T to begin with.
STOLEN AWAY ON 55TH AND 3RD (acoustic) - Come on.....
PROUDEST MONKEY - More of the same....
BABY BLUE - Okay, I dig this, never had a release....yay.
PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET (acoustic) - I support it, wish Jeff had a solo.
BUTTERFLY - Why, why, why, why, why?
************************************************************ ************
DANCING NANCIES - I'll half support this 'cause of that cool outro.
JIMI THING (acoustic) - NO
SAY GOODBYE - Random, but okay.

I'm not overjoyed with the selections but I'm glad a summer '98 performance was selected and I like that they included D&T for the first time. I kind of just see this disc as a "hopeful taste" of whats to come, meaning another full D&T release; more than likely that 2/1/97 show which I would be fine with. AND hopefully a full '98 summer show. As for the '09 to present tracks, I couldn't really care less.

In general, I'm pretty easy going as most know and make light of here. I don't get too upset about releases because there's always another coming, and "management" isn't a faceless machine to me.

But I don't understand this disc. There is nice stuff on it, I'm going to listen to it and not hate it. Say Goodbye is my favorite song, and my favorite period of it is pretty much 7.31.98 - 8.5.00. It had never been better and would never get better. I don't think this is the best version, but the AUD is soft and I can't say I haven't wanted a better copy of this version. I got hardcore into DMB in early 1998, that song in late 1997, so this was the first time it was played that I was a big fan, obviously I went out to find this show after it happened.

But I disagree with the purpose of the disc apparently. It seems that a lot of stuff is listening to shows, making some notes about songs, and when it doesn't fit anywhere, put it on the Warehouse disc. It seems like PFWYG, Proudest Monkey, this Say Bye are because of that. The D&T&S is welcome. Would prefer the full show, but whatever. An unreleased track is always fine by me. But this disc should always have two or three fan favorite tracks. They aren't hard to find or know about. The disc is specifically for people who are paying for membership. Throw us a fucking bone. This disc seems like an earnest attempt to put out a nice disc of random "overflow" tracks. Random nice tracks are fine, there are some on previous discs that I didn't know I would love, and this disc certainly isn't an all-time worst like some in the middle that were seemingly truly random. But two tracks per disc for your most ardent fans just seems like a no-brainer and not something anyone should have to explain. This disc is our one shot to get the one random track that we love. I do understand that there's a lot we don't know about, like are we able to get Pig 6.7.98? We've heard they have standard sign off for openers that might guest, but what about Big Voice Jack? If he didn't sign one, can we get that? I really don't know. But we all know versions that don't fit any sort of exclusion we can think of.

This bothers me way more than the 10 track requirement or getting a physical disc. It takes so much time and effort to do stuff like this. Take the extra bit of time for positive customer relations. Not limited to this message board, we are thousands of people who follow every show and get together to regularly discuss our favorite tracks. There is no one, five or twenty people that know better than we do. If you want to please us, you have to try. There's no overflow tracking your way into it.

I'm cool with the Warehouse. :lol I think so bro. I mean, I'm sure Dave has heard literally everything.. and I mean EVERYTHING. I wouldn't want to just wash his balls and tell him how awesome I think Grey Street and Two Step are. To be honest, if I ever met the man in real life, I'd probably just shake his hand (if he allowed it) and say "Thank you," and leave it at that.

This is why I opted to talk to him about the world cup (it was going on in South Africa while I had my meet and greet). I like to think he enjoyed talking about something other than music, but who knows. I remember he mentioned all the kid's schools in South Africa were closed because of it.

I'm blown away nothing with Bela last tour made it...especially snow outside from Blossom. That performance was mint and a true highlight that came out of the acoustic set the whole tour. Not very many people would be disappointed to get that.

Right. That's not the funny part.

That said, selling on their online store they don't have to share profit with the venue. The shirts should be cheaper. Phish's tour shirts are always far cheaper on drygoods.

If the WH wants to keep memberships, they should give those tour shirts away for free. Keep the hardcores happy, they'll still bank on the shirts when the tour starts.

I know this will never happen, but keep making the WH lucrative to the fans.

They did the ticket book at 15 years, I'm sure they'll do something even more substantial when members reach 20 years. A shirt is tough however, because you have to deal with sizing for every member. That doesn't strike me as something that would go smoothly.

I was watching a Romanian documentary about the Roma in that county and how they are discriminated against. The roma usually get no government assistance. So they steal, loot, etc and then the Romanian gov't then complains that they steal when the roma really get no opportunity. It is really sad over in Europe how the roma get treated. Anywhoo...

They showed this roma woman in Romanian prison who was shaving everything and posed for the camera. She was a character and I though it was funny and I took a screen cap of it. :lol

So I try to not do that. If I saved all that stuff from the Warehouse, seriously all it would have done would be to clutter a drawer. I used the backpack/sack thing until it broke, and kept a few other things I think but for the most part just threw all that shit out. I would have never hung up those shitty paper photos either

Again though, I only signed up for tickets and the CD so it's not like I really cared about that stuff to begin with
