Falling off the roof stinks. A dream so real is one of the best unreleased songs they have. Would have been an amazing studio tune with LW.

Stuff That Doesn't Need Its Own Thread (DMBc Version)

Kinda like when folks complained about Joyride sounding cookie-cutter DMB.

They're both fine songs, but not fantastic.

Now something like Walk Around the Moon is a song where DMB is evolving their sound a bit. Count me in there. Probably the only newest song where there's some sonic evolution going on.

I have the same feeling about Mad Man’s Eyes (which 90% of the hardcore fans love), shortly, the feeling that the band has been there before, somehow. But I still enjoy the intro, mainly Buddy’s piano part.

Moon is far from being in the top 50 songs of the catalog, but is an interesting attempt to make a signature of DMB in these days. I don’t dislike it, and I actually like the outro when played live (they should get rid of the falsetto, though, I hate every falsetto).

Sometimes I find myself watching some Central Park videos on youtube ... for example Two Step... and I think ... how fuc... great this band was
Especially the part where Butch's solo starts. Every band member is so focused. Amazing

No doubt. That show is still a top 5 of all time imo. Peak DMB playing most of their classics at the highest level. It’s missing the rarity element and other classics like BOWA etc. but it doesn’t get much tighter than CP.

Though I’d argue at the time Rhyme, Cortez and Help Myself were all pretty rare. So it wasn’t a total greatest hits set.

The more I listen, the more I think 2016 is an underrated tour. The pace of the music is bouncy. Sounds like they were having fun. Maybe they had one last blast of hope because Boyd was better than he'd been in years?

I really liked 2016, some of the best shows I’ve seen from DMB were that year. No joke. SPAC ‘16 was the best 2 night run I’ve done. I think the fact it was the 25th anniversary tour pumped them up, as well as the new songs they were working on. The year off in 2017 might have been known in advance too, so the idea that they weren’t going to be playing that next year led to some inspired stuff too.

Boyd was still brutal and wall of sound was in full force, but the sets were a hell of a lot more interesting than most of ‘14/‘15 imo and it was nice to get back to the normal 1 set show. Also bustouts like Break Free, Last Stop, Sugar will and the new songs etc didn’t hurt.

There's a nice Break Free early in the tour Boyd was "on" for and added a jam at the end. I remember that being a good one.

The last song I saw BT play with DMB was a killer Two Step at Alpine. That's a good memory. Last song I saw Roi play... was Thank You

I saw that first Break Free from Toronto in '06... I believe. Anyways, I was lucky enough to be there, third row, well before the pit days. What a seriously great performance.
