Man, they really should release the last couple years of Mexico shows in box sets. I’m really surprised they haven’t yet.

Even a compilation would do, assuming they can be trusted to pick good songs.

I'd be very on board with a boxset.

I'd buy a box set of 2020 or 2018. Heck, even though we have tapes, 2017 was pretty great too.

I just don’t get it - 2 guitars, a vocal, and a piano. That’s it. That’s all they’d need to mix for an official release. Spend a little more time on the few tracks that have guests. But the amount of money and effort that it would take to mix these shows and put them up for download is minimal. And people would clearly pay for them and download.

Everyone who pays to attend should get a free copy of the show from the SBD. This is a no brainer for years that many bands do. And just start webcasting for Christ sakes. I was able to watch phish entire Mexico run from my couch, thereís no reason why I shouldnít be able to do that for DMB. Missing out on such a market.

They’re afraid of sounding shitty here and there. Dave’s voice, etc. It’s also possible Dave isn’t comfortable performing like that. He can get away with a lot live. I’m sure he knows that. And if not him, management.

I don't buy that because they've webcasted tons of terrible performances in the past, almost every major one Dave had really bad vocal problems over the years. If they did MORE often, the track record actually would improve.

The band also films every show anyway, and they webcasted a bunch the last couple of years, I don't think it's a "dave can't handle it" problem at all. Nothing changes for them on stage really.

It's also clearly not a money/infrastructure thing, they can easily hire the people needed to make it happen. I'm more inclined to think it's just a "we don't need to do it" thing. Which is true, but I find it incredibly mind-boggling how the same management company runs both Phish and DMB and DMB hasn't even begun to tap into that revenue stream. Phish has been doing it for like almost a decade now, and almost every single show. I mean, hell, just have DMB do Gorge and SPAC or the major runs at least, no ones asking them to do webcast every single stop on the tour.

Maybe they really don't think people would pay to watch I guess. But how about testing it out? Are they really afraid people would buy the webcast instead of actually going to the show? If that's the case just do what the NFL does and only webcast shows that are already sold out then.

Dave & Tim Mexico 2020

Yea, DMB is a weird band. You can’t blame management, as Phish is run so differently. I’m assuming that this is the band’s decision then.
