So much cringe-worthy stuff in that thread.

I like his older stuff, but I realized that his behavior started making me hate him the worse his music got.

I used to listen to him but his attitude is such a turn off. I will say that Heartbreaker is a great album though.

yeah but this new record is supposed to be excellent.

i've only listened to one song off it but it was great, i can't wait

you'd think sobriety would have evened him out a bit

Yeah, I don't really mind if a musician's a jackass. It's just that...I like Ryan Adams; he's really good. But to me, he's made maybe one or two great albums, a fair amount of good stuff and a fair bunch of shit. If he was some Dylan-esque genius or something, I'd be fine with it. So it's not arrogance and douchebaggery that bother me; just when it's unearned. Ryan seems to play up the "I'm a tortured, crazy, unpredictable genius" thing, and when it doesn't meet reality, it just seems stupid.

eh, sobriety is never good for artists. His is also not by choice, I do believe.

The several times I saw him drinking he was awesome. A dick, but he deserved that right. Now, the three times I've seen him after his sobriety he was the definition of cRyan Adams. Complaining about sound. Played a song twice one time. Walked off stage. Ended a show after about half the set. Guy has turned into a total bitch.

That said, I will be seeing him again in december.

Can't wait to hear the new album.

Funny guy to see live, because (good as he is) the whole crowd is on pins and needles waiting to see which jackass is going to yell something out that pisses him off and sours the whole evening. Makes for an edgy show.

You can stream the album on that site I linked above.

The title track is the best song on the record, but it's very good. So much better than the last two from the Cardinals (three if you count III/IV).

I landed great seats for his solo Chicago show. Hope the crowd shuts up.

I know Ryan Adams can be a brat, but I love his music. If I turned of musicians because I thought they were douchebags, I wouldn't be posting on DMB message board.

are you talking about stefan, or Boyd?

There are three really good songs on this album, but so far, for me at least, it isn't as good as his 2005 cardinals stuff. But, better than his last two.

What three songs have jumped out to you? I'm guessing Dirty Rain, Ashes and Fire and Invisible Riverside? Or maybe I Love You But I Don't Know What To Say?

2005 was a great year. Cold Roses is easily my favorite work with the Cardinals. JCN is really good. And solo with Ethan Johns on 29 wrapped up the year nicely.

We've all talked plenty about Stefan. Dave has lost some luster with me, too. Maybe it's just because I'm just sick of Big Whiskey and bored with D/T. I think, in some respects we all long for the old days... but I'd be happy with that ambition he had in 03/04.

yea, those were the three I was thinking of. Cold Roses & JCN are two of my favorite albums and held up so much for me. And, I also like 29.

Dave, to me, is about as 'cool' of a rock star as you can get. I've never heard a bad thing about him.

it sounded like he was referring to dave which is just bizarre to me. say what you want about the corporate gigs and "i'll play what i want" thing on stage, but he seems like a genuine and nice guy.

I agree, it's a good run. It just gets harder to put up with a massive douchebag when it's a good run, as opposed to "oh my God, this guy's an incredible genius, who cares?' I feel like he wants to be the insane, irritable genius more than he actually is one.

But that being said, his new album's pretty good, and nobody can fuck with Cold Roses and Heartbreaker.
