Holy shit! The Too Much from 7/26/04 is incredible. Roi particularly surprised me with his improvisation.

I think I remember 10/02 and 10/05 being my favorites from the VFC Tour.

As far as listening to all the shows like these two guys are doing... When a tour starts I usually listen to the show that happened the night before. But that only lasts maybe 2 weeks, and then I just pick out different tracks to listen to.
I could maybe make it through most of a leg of a tour during the offseason. Like August 95 or something, even though I've already listened to 90% of that. ![]() |

Finishing up 2004 today....the U of FL show, then the short set in DC, then it's on to the Aussie tour in March, 2005!

the 10/8/04 Grey Street has some mighty fine work by 'Roi.....refreshing, really.....as through the years, GS has been stale for some time. That said, the crowd is insufferable, clapping in unison for the Stone intro. Jesus.

that was a solid show, tape was a little lacking, but hey, it did the job!
Poor Dave, during this last VFC show, he says "good luck" about voting after a ton of songs. He was so pumped up about that election, and then....boom....Out of My Hands. ![]() |

![]() Not only was the election out of his hands, so was that album. I never thought about his let down of it affecting his attitude on the album, but it makes sense now. |

Yeah, I think that song, more than any other, is the one I miss LeRoi on.

Roi is missed on almost everything. Jeff is great, but rois sound is undeniably unique and it's a shame he's gone. None of the songs sound the same. I'm really curious to what he would have played over the AFTW tracks.

Let's be realistic here. There would be no Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King or Away from the World if Roi hadn't died.
Some older songs have been brought to greater heights by Jeff than I ever imagined possible with Roi, namely Loving Wings, #41 and You Never Know. But I agree that Jeff doesn't sound like Roi on the older songs. |
